Ahimsa and a Vegan Spiritual Path with Victoria Moran

Hope for the Animals

We start off the podcast with Hope offering some perspective and depth into the concept of Ahimsa. This Sanskrit word is being utilized in the vegan community to help consider non-violence and veganism in a deeper context than just food choices. Later in the podcast, we will have long-time animal activist, author, podcaster, and yogi Victoria Moran. Victoria and Hope discuss veganism and spiritualty, training vegan lifestyle educators through Victoria’s Main Street Vegan Academy, and the new Compassion Consortium, which is bringing together people of faith for vegan-focused spiritual services.  We are excited to announce that UPC’s Hope for the Animals Podcast will now air on the Vegan Broadcasting Network (VBN). The podcast will be featured on Sundays at 10:00 AM (PST) and Tuesdays 6:00 PM (PST). Vegan Broadcasting Network (VBN radio) is a webcast radio station that streams both live and automated programming worldwide. Victoria Moran: Creating a Charmed Life

The Unique Way

In my mind Victoria Moran is one part rock star, one part fairy godmother & one part muse. Victoria lives a life of purpose, she believes all life is sacred & is a voice for the animals. She’s written 13 books & produced a documentary. She’s also the director of the iconic Main Street Vegan Academy & hosts the MSVA podcast. Ep. 45: Interview with Victoria Moran, Main Street Vegan

Pivot! A Vegan Business Interview Series

Meet Our Guest:Main Street Vegan Academy trains and certifies Vegan Lifestyle Coaches & Educators in exciting real-time courses that cover every aspect of the vegan lifestyle. Our respected faculty prepares committed vegans with the skills to succeed as a vegan coach, influencer, or entrepreneur, and we provide post-course support and networking. Our graduates hail from 30 countries and their businesses include vegan retailing, manufacturing, food service, fashion, education, and more. Since its inception in 2012, I took great pride in Main Street Vegan Academy's being in person in NYC, complete with field trips. We've shifted to Zoom and it's been wonderful, so post-COVID we'll offer the course both ways. The big pivot for me was having a business at all. I've been a writer since my teens and my first book, Compassion the Ultimate Ethic: An Exploration of Veganism, came out in 1985. I never expected to be in business, but the 2012 publication of my book, Main Street Vegan, sparked a podcast, a production company, and Main Street Vegan Academy. That's when I learned that the key to a successful pivot is acceptance, to lean into the new way, the new phase, and not stay stuck. Website www.mainstreetvegan.net Subscribe to Pivot! Ep. 55: Victoria Moran - A Visit with the Main Street Vegan

Victoria Moran is a veritable lighthouse in this plant-strong movement and a true matriarch. She's been in the trenches for well over 35-years and, at age 70, she’s just getting started! Her mission? To share the joys and rewards of living a whole-foods vegan lifestyle with the entire world. She’s written 13 books, hosts her own radio show and podcast called, “Main Street Vegan” and most recently produced a documentary called “A Prayer for Compassion” that asks the question, "Can people who identify as religious or spiritual come to embrace the call to include all human and nonhuman beings in our circle of respect, caring and love?” Powerful, indeed. She also runs The Main Street Vegan Academy - a program for training and certifying vegan lifestyle coaches and entrepreneurs around the world. Did we mention that she’s 70? Whew! As you’ll hear in our conversation, one of her goals is to help others age in slow motion and I think you’ll agree, she’s doing just that! And, that’s a wonderful thing because the world needs Victoria Moran and others like her who have the heart of a hero and the compassion to change the world.
