On today’s episode of Ramble Meets… we welcome a man who, by his own admission, tried really hard not to be a footballer - and failed. It’s former Chelsea, Everton and Scotland winger, Pat Nevin! Pat joins Mark Pougatch to discuss an enriching career that was fuelled by a sheer enjoyment of football, with the trappings of fame and fortune never a remote consideration. He talks about his journey from the politically charged streets of the east end of Glasgow to Chelsea FC and London’s burgeoning music scene, all with a vigour that shows Pat’s love for the game will never truly dwindle. You can purchase Pat's new book, The Accidental Footballer, here! ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Series 2 Episode 4 - The Indie Episode! What Goes Around is all about finding music fans in unusual places and this week, we shoot ... and we score! Our guest is the brilliant writer, presenter and footballing legend Pat Nevin. Pat may be best known as a flying winger for Chelsea and Scotland but he has always been a music fan first and foremost. We are delighted that Pat agreed to share his Phonographic Memories with us, he takes us from the pre punk days right up to the modern day and gives us some priceless anecdotes about meeting and becoming friends with the late great John Peel, his love of DJing and how he never really wanted to be a footballer in the first place. Humble and generous to a fault this one was a joy to record. In honour of Pat being our guest we decided to christen this the Indie Music episode. David Christian-Bower from Indie stalwarts Comet Gain takes time out to make us believe in 'Indie Music'. It's a celebration of the freaks and geeks that shaped the modern music scene during the 80s. Before all that, Anne and Eamon discuss the dark art of house hunting for DJs. They also talk canal parties and discuss the house of 'El Diablo'. Mainly thanks to Pat and David this weeks Spotify playlist is actually really bloody good so stick it on! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2IKDpjeb1v1tLHrUBIqbcs?si=8eec1d42fcb44595 Anne also mentions this incredible listing on Right Move, we recommend you play the video walkthrough with the sound on full blast, its a vibe! https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/104968019#/ CONTACT US: WHATGOESPOD@GMAIL.COM Twitter - @WHATGOESPOD Instagram - @WHATGOESPOD Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/WhatGoesPod/ *BIG UP THE LIKERS RETWEETERS & SHARERS*
