Show Notes

Introduction to the Outdoors

I was lucky enough to have parents that enjoy the outdoors, my dad especially, he's a big hunter and fisherman. So I was exposed to the outdoors very early. My mom was a pretty big skier in high school and I started to learn skiing when I was three. I think I was one of the younger ones out on the Hill at that point in time. So yeah, I was exposed to a lot of stuff at an early age and was lucky enough to have parents that would take me out fishing, hunting, and skiing and camping and all sorts of good stuff.

Things we talked about

Korkers

St Marys College

Semester at Sea

Deschutes River

Other Outdoor Activities

Hunting, hiking, camping, skiing

Advice

My advice, a lot of what I've told people is that it's hard to kind of get into the industry when you don't have any experience. And a lot of brands are looking to hire people that have been in the business for several years. So I think, I guess my biggest piece of advice would be to knock on the doors of some of the smaller companies like the Korkers, where rather than just do one singular job task or role, you might be able to wear several hats and learn more about the business.

EP16 Korkers Footwear with CEO Brian Chaney

On today's episode we talk about Korkers traction footwear with  CEO Brian Chaney. We talk wading boots, traction, and innovation.  I wanted to go over the different reasons why Korkers boots perform so well and why they last. Brian is constantly pushing to make the boots better.  As a gear junky Korkers boots are a natural fit for me.  Lot of sole options on a quality product.  Don't take my word for it.  Listen, check them out, and decide for yourself.

I will be doing more episodes covering different products and I want to make something clear…..  I did this podcast to let you know about a product I feel is better than many and is worth a look.  Just like when you go to the Sportman Show to get information on all the new products.  My podcast will cover some products that I feel are good but you don't have to take my word for it.  I want to explain to you why I feel they are worth a look and you can decide from there.  My belief is that the right information can save us all a lot of time and money.  It seems that over time we all end up with similar gear and we have all tried similar products that failed to make the cut.  I am just trying to shorten that learning curve.  Leave a comment if you have any questions.  Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast for future episodes.  Thanks again and we will see you next time.
