JAMES KETCHELL - Solo Atlantic Row | Everest Summit | Ultimate Triathlon (S01E08)

Adventure More UK - "Catch You On The Flip Side"

"Catch You On The Flip Side" - Podcast with James Ketchell It was an inauspicious start for James; in 2008 he was recovering from a serious motorcycle accident that had left him with broken legs and a severely broken and dislocated ankle. The prognosis was that he would likely suffer a permanent walking impairment and would certainly not be able to continue the active physical lifestyle he had so enjoyed. Not all James adventures have been easy! He survived two mid ocean rescues and on one he found himself clinging to a rope ladder on the side of a 100,000-tonne oil tanker as he climbed to safety in storm force winds in the Indian Ocean. No stranger to overcoming adversity and dealing with obstacles, James’ lectures include the importance of risk management, personal resilience and dealing with setbacks. Having spent much of his teenage years struggling with no ambition and very little confidence, leaving school with no qualifications and spending most of his early days in bed. James has spent the last ten years passionately working to inspire young people, as well as sharing his lessons learned with companies around the world. James Ketchell is the first and only person to have rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, successfully summited Mount Everest and cycled 18,000 miles around the world, in what the media dubbed ‘The Ultimate Triathlon’. In 2019 he flew his open-cockpit gyroplane over 24,000 nautical miles around the world, in 175 days to set the first Fédération Aéronautique Internationale ratified circumnavigation for an aircraft of its type. The mission was to inspire a million young people in classrooms over the world to pursue their own dreams and goals. #104: Life Lessons & Unique Insights from The Ultimate Global Explorer ~James Ketchell

AdapNation: all things Self-Optimisation!

This episode is a wonderful and impactful interview with professional explorer James Ketchell, where he shares his experiences, lessons and key life advice he’s accumulated through his travels. James Ketchell is the only man on the planet to have completed the ultimate global triathlon - rowing the Atlantic solo, climbing Everest and cycling around the world! Oh, as well as solo flying around the world in a tiny open top gyrocopter!  What an amazing story of following your passion, having unquestionable belief, and finding your true happiness. James has the unique perspective of starting with nothing, being a depressed child, being told he cannot walk again after a devastating accident… followed by conquering the world several times over. Stuff that dreams are made of. What is more powerful and and accomplished than successfully exploring the world that we live on, being on the top of it, and the amazing stories of survival and grit to journey to the unknown… time and again. This is not just a story of one mans brilliance. Far from it. This episode is mostly about the powerful life lessons that James has learnt along the way, which are 100% applicable to everyone who listens. LOVED THIS INTERVIEW. Staying the Course with James Ketchell - 026

The Speaking Club: Mastering the Art of Public Speaking

What does it take to make your dream come true? How do you cope with being in the ocean alone for nearly four months? What happens when you get a lung infection at the top of Mount Everest? These are just some of the things that my guest James Ketchell shares on this show. From nearly losing a foot in a motorbike racing accident, to completing the ultimate triathlon, whilst being “crap at running’, James is a man who let’s nothing stand in his way when he’s pursuing his dreams. As a professional speaker, and now author, James now shares the stories and lessons learned from his amazing journeys. He talks about the grit and persistence needed just to get to the start line of his adventures, never mind the mental resilience and determination he had to find to complete them I’m chuffed to bits that he joined me to tell some of those stories and to share some of his speaking tips with us on The Speaking Club. What you’ll learn How a sense of humour and a dream to aim for can get you through the dark moments Why you should listen to the people who’ve done what you want to do, rather than the people who just have an opinion on what you want to do. The key project pillars for an expedition or adventure. How to structure a fundraising proposal. Why you should always focus on the process not the outcome. Why your mental strength is the key to your success. The three things that can stop you pursuing your dreams and why they shouldn’t get in your way. Why setting mini goals will increase your chances of achieving your dream. Why you should make focus, fear and persistence your best friends. The three ingredients to great speaking.
