Offense? Same problem, different day for the Cardinals. We talk it over with Ben Frederickson of the Post Dispatch. He thinks it’s fair to look to Jeff Albert, the hitting coach, as a common denominator. Although Mozeliak doesn’t want to go there and oft points to this outlier of a year plus the adversity of COVID as the reason for the club’s issues.

Paul Goldschmidt is on an island when it comes to the line-up so how will the team address building around him? Ben doesn’t know why any team would give Goldschmidt a pitch to hit. Will they go out in the off-season and find support or will it be more excuses?

Adam Wainwright with another stellar performance this week. He’s undoubtedly the ace of the squad and one of the only reliable players on the team as a whole. He’s showing that it’s not just about velocity. He’s proving that there’s more left in him for 2021. Ben says he’s getting the last laugh at people who were ready to write him off.

Ben wrote a very interesting article this past week about the predicament for sports in St. Louis county under Sam Page’s restrictions. He explains his article and what’s he’s heard from both side about the barring of play. Article here on stltoday.com

Some talk on Mizzou’s season as we’ve heard they’ll miss some players for their first game against Alabama. Listen here about the COVID effects on Mizzou football and BIG Ten’s plans:

We dive into this week's Marlins and Phillies news of many players testing positive. Can MLB make enough smart moves on the fyn to save the season from the virus?

Pitching is always key for teams to win but this year looks even more so. With so many pitchers not going beyond 5 innings, what are Ben Frederickson's thoughts on the Cardinals bullpen? His thoughts on Carlos Martinez's start versus Daniel Ponce de Leon? Who was better? He thinks Kim should get a shot at a start. And what do they do with the offense? Bader, Thomas and Carpenter could all lose their spots. Ben Fred says the outfielders are the weak spot. Could Carlson be the spark they need?

We talk Blues questionable exhibition game, being in "game shape" and ice conditions in the bubble. Some SEC news too. Listen here:

Opening day for the Cardinals is here. We visit with Ben Frederickson of the Post-Dispatch today about how the road to get here has been. Just 5 short months ago, one player testing positive meant an entire league shut down. Last night we saw the Nationals roll on with their game after finding out one of their top stars in Juan Soto test positive for Covid 19. How is this situation different now than it was then?

We talk about Kim as the closer. Also, Ben Fred's opinion of the way the roster shook out officially yesterday and when Dylan Carlson will join the team. Will the offense stand up while the outfield figures itself out? What about Gomber and Ponce de Leon in the bullpen? They would be starters on most teams across the league. We get into how short the leash will be for players as well. The sprint to the finish starts tonight. Listen here:

Yadier Molina is someone to talk about this morning with Ben Fred. He's made it known that he doesn't want this year to be his last and he's open to going to another team if it doesn't work out with the Cardinals. Ben says you do what you can to keep your Hall of Famer on the plate and he doesn't see him going somewhere else unless the terms are disrespectful. But how much do you pay for legacy if you're Bill Dewitt? IS Yadi open to a time-share?

What are Ben's thoughts on baseball's return this year? Are the recently released plans realistic? Ben is encouraged but is not necessarily betting on a season. He says it mostly comes down to if they can get the players in their own cities near homes and families.

Eli Drinkwitz has grabbed a significant player this week in Lutheran North's Travion Ford. Coach's presence is being felt in recruiting St. Louis players; a departure from previous coaches. The draft wasn't so sunny for Mizzou players though. What is Ben's take on why and if teams were mistaken?

Some news on MLS and NCAA players ability to make money too. Listen here:

Everyone's taking a financial haircut with the coronavirus situation but, this morning, we take a few minutes to talk actual haircuts. Grooming tips aside, we happily discuss the latest negative decision the Rams are dealing with in regards to leaving St. Louis. We hear Ben Fred's take on why, how and when the city could see the suit reach an end. Whether settling or seeing it through to court, what does Ben see happening? We get details on what Kevin Demoff might have come out in the news about the relocation.

If we don't see college football this fall, what does Ben Fred think happens to the sport in general? Will NCAA see a significant dent; enough to make changes? Some tough conversations about financial decisions may be looming. Unnecessary facility upgrades, coaches salaries and irresponsible spending could be under the microscope soon. What about having sports in college without fans? Does Ben think it's possible? Again, the TV contracts come into play.

The NHL is taking a look into having neutral locations to return to play. Hockey's plan could have a higher chance of player approval though because there are such few games left. Free agents and those looking for new contracts likely want these games more than others so the salary cap gets some kind of increase. Ben says it's ok to talk and plan but the same issues apply... what happens if someone contracts the virus?

We revisit Alex Pietrangelo's potential contract too. Listen here:
