Firing Line with Margaret Hoover

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt joins Margaret Hoover to discuss advances in artificial intelligence, the impact that the technology could have on humanity, and how to prepare for the future it will bring. Schmidt, who co-authored “The Age of A.I.” with Henry Kissinger and MIT computer scientist Daniel Huttenlocher, details how artificial intelligence could spur dramatic changes in medicine, warfare, and parenting. He also explains why he is more optimistic than some experts about the outlook for the post-A.I. labor market. Having run Google for a decade, Schmidt offers insight into the debate over free speech and social media moderation, as well as the potential tradeoffs of imposing government regulations on emerging technologies. He also argues against barring former President Donald Trump from social media platforms. Schmidt acknowledges some ethical and technological challenges loom as A.I. evolves, but says he hopes to start a conversation about addressing them before it is too late. He also foresees A.I. and technology playing a vital role in combating climate change. Support for “Firing Line for Margaret Hoover” is provided by Stephens Inc., Robert Granieri, Charles R. Developing Business Communities Using Cloud Software with Eric Schmidt of Glue Up

Leaders of B2B - Interviews on B2B Leadership, Tech, SaaS, Revenue, Sales, Marketing and Growth

Eric Schmidt, Co-Founder and CEO at Glue Up, thinks entrepreneurs can improve their success through communities and interactions. A move to China made him realize the need for technology to grow communities with other business leaders. The pandemic transformed his product from a nice-to-have to a must-have for business associations and chambers of commerce.Setting up a business in a different country throws out all you’ve learned in the US market. Schmidt shares that in Asia, it was very fast-paced, with businesses relying on day-to-day decisions. This required massive familiarity with the environment as well as flexibility to adapt. One key differentiator was that purchases leaned heavily towards trust over product. This was how business communities were vital, as they built lasting relationships.Schmidt believes a great product can sell itself, but it has to be developed with customers at its core. He believes that, for founders of B2B software companies, trying to solve problems by their experiences is more likely to be successful.Schmidt thinks that B2B cloud software and mobile apps will continue to be significant, even as the pandemic wanes. The product will need to focus on continuing the relationship even after that face-to-face meeting. Business leaders looking to gain an edge in gaining experience and building relationships through communities will find this interaction extremely beneficial.LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/ericschmidtglueup/Website - https://www.glueup.com/This episode is brought to you by Content Allies.Content Allies helps B2B tech companies launch revenue-generating podcasts. We Have to Control AI Before It Controls Us, Warns Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt

GZERO World with Ian Bremmer

Tech companies set the rules for the digital world through algorithms powered by artificial intelligence. But does Big Tech really understand AI? Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt tells Ian Bremmer that we need to control AI before it controls us.   What's troubling about AI, he says, is that it’s still very new, and AI is learning by doing. Schmidt, co-author of “The Age of AI: And Our Human Future,” worries that AI exacerbates problems like anxiety, driving a human addiction cycle that leads to depression.
