What was 30A before 30A? Some knew it as the Redneck Riviera, and author Hardy Jackson was here to see it all go down. Hardy is a local from Seagrove, retired professor, and decided to write about the history of what many call the "Redneck Riviera." From Alabama to Northwest Florida, it's the story of our area before tourist development councils, websites...back when the only ones that knew about it, were the ones that knew about it.

I have been having a tough time working in my current position. I must wasn't feeling the love for what I was doing. I could not put my heart in it. I wasn't feeling engaged. I wasn't having fun. Have you ever felt that way with your job? Have you just felt that it wasn't fun getting up in the morning and going to work? Have you felt you couldn't put your heart in it? I am a firm believer in the concept of this quote. When I realized I wasn't enjoying what I was doing, I started thinking back to what I had done before that I loved to do. There was a time where I loved going to work in the morning. I didn't mind staying late or working from home late. My kids used to call me a "Workaholic".  I explained to them, then, that I loved what I was doing. That I wasn't working. I was having fun! I like to do what I was doing then. Having that feeling will make all the difference in the world whether it's work, a relationship, a hobby. For years I was an active tennis player. I captained neighborhood teams, I was played in tournaments. I played in multiple leagues.  I loved tennis. I took some time off from playing when I got really busy in a new job. When I moved to California to start another new job, I started playing again. After about a year I was standing on the court during a match. I was thinking, I cannot put my heart in it. I realized that I wasn't having any fun out there. It was becoming a chore to go to matches, practice, etc. I just didn't have my heart in it. So, I took myself out of it. I called the captain of the team and told him I was finished. I was retiring from tennis. Thanks, and I was sorry. If you cannot put your heart in it, whatever it is, take yourself out of it.  You will be happier in life.  Go out today, be adventurous and Make Today a Great Day!
