Mentors have connections that can help you in your career. Find people who have qualities that you aspire to and ask them to mentor you-remember to be very specific on what it is you need from them. We are the five people that we surround ourselves with-find the right people who can help lift you up. Networking: Join professional organizations and be an active participant. Participate in committees that help you make connections and aid you in ways you don’t even know were possible. Be engaged while at an event and be the person in the front row. Spend as little time as possible speaking, listen to the other person more than you talk. After meeting people at an event, step into the hallway and make notes about your conversation.
