I spoke with Scott from his Brooklyn apartment about some of the songs that made him want to be in a band and that also saved him from going down a dark road. liquid lunch 155: Wormtown Brewing’s Scott Metzger
Recorded 9-12-19. It’s time for you post Hump Day, Pre Weekend Party!! It’s Thursday at noon and Josh & Kennedy are ready to usher you into a beer soaked weekend. On this episode of Liquid Lunch, Texas gets a chance to bid a fond farewell to one of the best. Texas beer legend Scott Metzger calls in as he gets ready to set off for a new adventure at Wormtown Brewing in Worcester, MA. The tears flow as dose some peachy Florida beers the Kennedy brought.
Scott Metzger is like crazy busy. Aside from the Showdown Kids, he has own trio Wolf! that plays surf/soundtrack rock, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, and like 4 other projects that he appears with. His 2018 could be an entry on its own in Wikipedia under Jam Bands. Truth is, Scott is supremely talented and thats why he either wants to play with other musicians or gets too because well, as soon you’ll soon hear, everyone loves playing with the guy. We caught up with Scott to reflect on 2018 and hear about his upcoming plans for 2019. Episode 9 - 2001: A Space Odyssey w/ Marc Friedman & Scott Metzger
This month we are going way past the moon in an epic drama of adventure and space exploration with Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. I'm really excited to have this trio for this film consisting of Marc Friedman (The Slip, Ryan Montbleau) on bass, Scott Metzger (JRAD, Wolf!) on guitar and myself on drum kit and percussion. Get ready to get weird!
For episode 5, we have a special performance by two exceptional guitarists (and me on drums!), Josh Kaufman (Bob Weir, Josh Ritter, The National, War on Drugs) & Scott Metzger (JRAD, Wolf!, The Showdown Kids). They came by the studio to improvise a soundtrack to the 2008 Chinese supernatural fantasy film, Painted Skin.
