402. Veganism & Earning Planet Peace, with James Aspey
James Aspey is a renowned animal activist who’s been vegan for eight years. The path to him becoming a voice for the unheard started with his decision to become voiceless, himself. He took a vow of silence in honor of animal suffering and maintained it for an entire year. With his big personality, outspoken charisma, and extreme commitment to the cause, he’s doing so much good in the world. He saw the massive injustices in the animal product industries and just how few people were actually speaking up in the way that they needed to, so he had to take on the mission, himself. The language and tone he uses is often the center of controversy and criticism. We talk about the backlash to this approach, the morality of veganism, and how his diet changed his life following a cancer diagnosis. To learn more and for the complete show notes, visit: lytyoga.com/blog/category/podcasts/Resources:Instagram: @jamesaspeyYouTube: youtube.com/voiceless365Visit tryveganmealprep.com and use code “LYTYOGA” for 25% off your first orderRedefining Yoga is a production of Crate Media See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
With everything happening in the world today, is it even worth being vegan? How expensive can it be? Is it healthy? James explores how veganism is a moral imperative in our current world. Using his experience inside slaughterhouses, James paints the reality of what occurs inside slaughterhouses and how mass-marketing has allowed us to believe in terms like 'humanely slaughtered' and 'free-range'. We speak about the human rights violations in the animal agricultural industry affecting marginalised communities, along with how destructive it is for our environment. He also provides tips and resources for anybody considering following a vegan lifestyle. James skips through the BS, explaining how the injustice happening to animals is the largest holocaust the world has ever seen - and how we have no time to waste.

From Silent Protestor to Viral Word Warrior with James Aspey – 104
The Speaking Club: Mastering the Art of Public Speaking
At the age of 17, James Aspey was diagnosed with leukaemia and given six weeks to live. Over the next 3 years, he fought to survive, which he did. He emerged from that battle with a new appreciation of life and a personal understanding of suffering. During his treatment he’d gained 23kg and after being given the all clear he began, with the help of a trainer to get his weight and fitness back on track. Inspired by the help he’d got James became a personal trainer too. It was whilst on a cruise ship working as a PT that James met a man that would completely change the path of his life. He began to question some of the things he’d always believed about food and health and embarked on a journey that would lead him first to giving up eating animals, then to giving up his voice for animals and finally, to what he does today, speaking all over the world about animals and veganism. His words are visceral and provocative, his message is hard to hear...but more and more people are listening, and that’s why I asked James to come on the show. If you want to get some lessons from a master speaker, with a heartfelt message that is influencing people across the globe to make a major shift in their life and beliefs...then listen to this show...but be warned... at times you may find what James says disturbing and challenging. The Compassionate Road
In episode 12, I speak to James Aspey, who became known globally when he went silent for a year to raise awareness for the voiceless, the billions of animals who suffer and are killed every year for our taste - in food and clothing. Since he has dedicated his life to continue this plight and his speeches have been seen millions of times, and he has the incredible ability to speak the sometimes uncomfortable truth - and get people to hear what he is saying, when often they would instead turn away. We speak about his journey, his why's and how's of living vegan - his passion is contagious but it is backed up by important facts we all need to know and consider.
