A Peace of My Mind: Cry Out

Joe Hill is from the Seneca Nation. He traveled to northern Minnesota to a Water Protectors camp north of Palisade, to protest an oil pipeline that will cross the Mississippi River and many others. He spent the winter there living in a yurt and said he had come to support an Indigenous women-led movement, to live simply, and to exercise his obligations under the Great Law of Peace. We talked about how his people had lived as a matriarchal society, the reasons he had come to Minnesota and the lessons he had learned from his time along the Mississippi River.

Joe is one half of the father-son duo on a mission to save the world one slice of pizza at a time. Saving the planet with pizza? Now that’s activism we can all get behind. An Evening with Joe Hill

The National Writers Series Podcast

Joe Hill was born with the name Joseph King: he’s the son of legendary author Stephen King. But Joe writes under the last name “Hill” out of a desire to succeed on his own merits. Now he’s recognized as one of today’s best horror writers.   Hill is a New York Times #1 best-selling author whose novels include NOS4A2, Horns, Heart-Shaped Box and The Fireman. His latest book is Strange Weather, which is made up of four short novels. Joe talks this hour with fellow author (and native Michigander) Loren Estleman, who is best known for a series of crime novels featuring the investigator Amos Walker.  Joe started off talking about and reading from one of the stories from Strange Weather. This event took place at the City Opera House in downtown Traverse City in October 2018.

The Writers Mythos 010 - Joe Hill

The Writers Mythos

The Writers Mythos 010 - Joe Hill Our dive into the Mythos is of a slightly familial nature as we look at the son of The King of horror: Joe Hill. But to simply label Joe as the son of Stephen King would be foolish. As we find out, Joe Hill is a man who stands all on his own in the world of the macabre, terrifying and heart-wrenching. A man who has carved out his own path in ways that would amaze everyone and stand the test of time. Questions? Suggestions? Monster Blood in your attic? The Score — Bobby Joe Hill

The Score from The Team Roping Journal

Bobby Joe Hill and his crew at Hill Rodeo Cattle cross somewhere between 2,000 and 3,000 Corriente cattle from Mexico each year, and of those, only 60 (45 in three pens plus 15 extras) are making the trip to this year's Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Arlington, Texas.Bobby Joe has had a wild ride in 2020, just like most of the roping producers and cattle contractors in the business. He was on the line for roping steers for the Ariat World Series of Team Roping's Finale. That finale has been rescheduled to 2021, so he has a bunch of great, fresh steers heading to these Mega Qualifier events in Wickenburg, Arizona, in San Antonio, Texas, and Decatur, Texas.
