Andrew Osenga - Caring for Artists, Influencing Through Song, & Widening the Church’s Imagination
The Secret Chord
Nick talks with Andrew Osenga about his long career in Christian music, how his philosophies have matured over time, and the discerning questions he uses when measuring the music he’s responsible for (“Is it true? Is it useful? Is it kind?”) The two talk about how songs influence the way people think, Andrew’s role working with artists for Integrity Music, and the responsibility of Christian music-makers. Andrew Osenga has played nearly every role in the music industry: songwriter, artist, studio musician, producer, label executive. His career started at the age of nineteen with his band the Normals, who toured and released albums during his college age years. Andrew went on to join the band Caedmon’s Call, and has produced and toured with many well known Christian artists. He’s released his own albums for over twenty years, and has become a voice of influence in the Christian industry. Andrew works A&R for Integrity Records, helping to guide and lead the next generation of artists. S2 E11: Andrew Osenga interviews Drew Miller & Evan Redwine
The Second Muse
In this second-to-last episode of Season 2, Andrew Osenga joins the podcast to interview Drew Miller and Evan Redwine about Drew’s song “Death of a Dream.” They speculate on what precisely the dreams are that died and how this song and its accompanying Desolation and Consolation EPs came about. Then they geek out about how Evan played Pro Tools plug-ins like instruments to achieve that spooky, decaying sort of sound that defines “Death of a Dream.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Andrew Osenga is one of the first people I met in Nashville back in the Fall of 2005. He's a 20-year music industry veteran. From artist to producer, major label A&R to session player, he's contributed in almost every area of the music business. It's his passion to help artists make great music, wise decisions, and to build a healthy business foundation. http://www.andrewosenga.com/ http://www.jjheller.com/podcast
