Battle for School Choice Will Decide Whether State or Parents Control Children’s Education: Neal McCluskey

There are arguments in the United States of whether parents should be able to choose which schools their children go to, with the main focus on school choice and school vouchers. Policies allowing for this are being challenged locally in Ohio, where 100 different school districts are threatening to sue, claiming that policies that allow school vouchers are a violation of the state constitution. The local discussion, however, could have broader impacts on similar policies across the United States. Here talk to us about this more is Neal McCluskey, director of the Cato Institute’s Center for Educational Freedom. ⭕️ Stay up-to-date with Josh with the Crossroads NEWSLETTER👉 https://ept.ms/CrossroadsNewsletter ⭕️ Support our fight for the truth👉 https://donorbox.org/crossroads

School Choice Works Better for Teachers with Neal McCluskey

Wisco Weekly by 24Hour Journal

With 18 states adopting school choice, the most populous state in the union may also be on the verge of adoption. California is undergoing a recall election and the leading candidate to replace Gavin Newsom is Larry Elder. Edler is an outspoken advocate of school choice. So what is it? How does it work? What is a historical perspective on it? How does critical race theory affect school choice? Neal McCluskey is the Director of the Center for Educational Freedom at the libertarian think tank, Cato Institute. He provides an 'a to z' explanation of why school choice works better for teachers, starting with defining school choice to why the stakes are so high with public schools adopting critical race theory.  Episode Notes: Public Schooling Battle Map -- https://www.cato.org/education-fight-map Cato Institute -- https://www.cato.org/ Texas House Bill 150, Family Educational Relief Program -- https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/872/billtext/pdf/HB00150I.pdf#navpanes=0 For bonus, ad-free episodes that deliver actionable insights, become a paid-NYFE subscriber for $8.49 a month or $93.99 a year on Apple Podcasts. Ep.062 -- Neal McCluskey -- School Choice & Liberty (School Choice Mini-Series Pt.3)

ClassCast Podcast

ClassCast Podcast Ep.062 features Neal McCluskey PhD, the Director of the Center for Educational Freedom at the Cato Institute, discussing school choice, individual liberty, and the future of education with host Ryan Tibbens. Neal has spent most of his career studying public policy with a focus on education; he is a leader in the national school choice conversation, has written and edited three books on the subject, and explains his beliefs and goals through a lens of respect for individuals and their liberty. In this conversation, Neal explains how school choice will (and won't) affect community bonding, civil rights, and public funding. While he does concede that most school choice supporters would like to see lower taxes and/or educational costs, he doesn't agree with host Ryan Tibbens' concern that school choice legislation now will ultimately lead to the end of publicly funded education. Much as Jennifer Berkshire's (Ep.061) new book is leading the discussion against school choice, Neal McCluskey and Corey DeAngelis's new book, School Choice Myths: Setting the Record Straight on Education Freedom, is making waves in the education policy arena. This episode is Part 3 of the ClassCast Podcast mini-series on school choice; don't miss the others!Recent and upcoming ClassCast Podcast episodes will feature public school advocates, school choice advocates, and the kind of thoughtful discourse that should inform our national conversation as well as individual listeners' opinions on school choice, public schools, funding, equity, justice, and opportunity.
