Behind the Business of Greenhouse Interiors with Julia Green
The Emily Osmond Show
In today’s episode I am lucky enough to be joined by the lovely Julia Green, a household name in the world of interior styling. She is one of the most published stylists in Australia over the last decade, having styled and written for numerous interior design magazines, including Inside Out, Real Living, and Home Beautiful. Julie has appeared multiple times on “The Block” TV show and spoken at events such as Life in Style and Grand Designs Live. As if all that wasn’t enough, she’s also the founder of a thriving interiors wholesale business “Greenhouse Interiors” where she represents more than 40 boutique artists to hundreds of retailers in Australia and New Zealand. Together we dive into the real, un-glossy side of business. She speaks candidly about the challenges, sacrifices, learning, and pressure involved with building and maintaining a successful business and well-known brand. I loved this chat and feel very grateful for her honesty in sharing her story and answering all of my questions. We talk music, food, dancing and along the way she even reveals a big project or two coming up! We learnt so much from chatting with her and you will too! Julia Green's latest novel might have been written as a response to COVID-19. But it wasn't. This episode is also available as a blog post: http://picturesandconversations.co.uk/2020/09/26/the-children-of-swallow-fell-by-julia-green/
We are proud to announce this week is the multi-talented creative Julia Green. We came to learn of Julia and her work through the labels she has done for Equilibrium. Now life happens and there have been a handful of guests that we have had slated for previous seasons and for whatever reason we are unable to get the interview locked down. These artists are on a list and I try and reestablish connections whenever possible, so when these come together it brings me extra joy. This episode is a great adventure and insight into hard work, realizing what you want and the importance of community. Julia’s story is honest, funny and makes you think. It resonated with me and was very natural and relaxed. Conversations like this reinforce what we have built together here as the #16ozCanvas community and give me all the feels during a time of such distancing and disconnect from everyone. Excited to celebrate Julia, her music, art and much more with Episode 173. It goes live on Friday!!

In this interview, Julia Green talks about her novel The Children of Swallow Fell and the adaptation to change in the face of global adversity. A novel that resonates in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but was written before the outbreak. It's a heartwarming, positive survival story with a lyrical, poetic heart.
This lady is a very very very good friend of the Jumbled Gang. Julia Green's (and her business, Greenhouse Interiors) path to becoming one of Australia’s leading and most published interior stylists is SO fascinating - you will not believe some of her stories. Not only is she a total pro at what she does – but her enthusiasm is contagious, she’s hilarious and we literally laugh our way around the world when we get together for our Morocco Trips.I hope you enjoy our crazy chat as much as I did! I'll never tire of Julia's stories.Pip x
