Mark Peterson - Real Estate Advisor, Founding Partner, Bambace-Peterson Realty
[00:04:09] Whether that's a team for a long period of time or whether it ends up being just a small short team having a shared experience and shared connection is really meaningful.[00:08:01] Every transaction is actually there is some sport to it, but it's a partnership and we're working together towards a common goal.[00:10:19] That is so rewarding to see that success, to have all 11 people do their job[00:10:42] It's not necessarily the games that you remember the most. It's the practices, and it's also whether it's the conflict or the heartbreak or the heartache, it's all those hard challenges that you actually have a lot of your memories about.[00:11:54] One thing that you realize is that you're going to get through it, for the most part, you're not going to die.[00:12:36] That certain adversity that you dealt with. If you're able to react and deal with the adversity and overcome it, that there can be tremendous feeling of success.[00:16:05] Recognizing that everyone has their skills and sometimes you're going to need to actually, lift somebody up or give them encouragement.[00:16:22] A lot of a team sport is actually emotional and mental. It's not just about physicality. [00:16:44] The more that everyone can share with making everybody better around them is what makes a team better.[00:17:10] Sometimes you're put into a team work environment where you have to work with who you have and who your teammates are and figure out what the best role is for everyone to have.[00:18:25] As a leader, that usually it means that you're going to have to make some sacrifices for yourself personally.[00:20:52] The classic kind of teamwork is you're forming and then you're storming and then you're norming and then you're performing and it takes a while to get there.[00:21:38] But so much more about being a captain or a leader is actually about how you treat others and how you work with them.[00:23:10] Your integrity is something that's going to go with you throughout your life. And whether that's your sportsmanship and the way that if you're in a sport in the way that you carry yourself and the way that you carry yourself in a time of loss and they carry yourself in time of victory. That's the same as integrity in business.[00:25:54] Showing up is so much part of performance in life.[00:28:55] You can all have that best experience by yourself, but it certainly is better to have that with somebody and share that in memory.[00:32:46] I can't stress the value ofpushing those boundaries a little bit for anyone and anything, because that's where you're going to grow by having a new experience.[00:33:07] And it might be something that, that makes you uncomfortable and it might be uncomfortable for a day. It might be uncomfortable for a week. It might be a month. But in the end when you look back at what was uncomfortable. There's going to be growth and there's going to be movement forward.[00:34:21] What sports provide. Is an opportunity for repetitive failure and repetitive discomfort, which then you have to overcome.[00:35:06] There's no growth in comfort.

Mark Peterson of the KXLY Extreme Team and Diamonds and Dreams was our guest this week. Albert and Lambo had an amazing conversation where we talked about life in Montana, the Grand Pre of Spokane, the trip to Mississippi where the Extreme team was born, but we finish with Diamonds and Dreams. Diamonds and Dreams is close to what we do because it is rebuilding baseball fields, and giving back to the game that we love. To nominate a field for a rebirth or a facelift, go to KXLY.com and click on the extreme team link. A icon should be there to nominate the field that you think needs some TLC. Thank you Mark for coming on, we can't wait to do it again. www.kxly.com www.facebook.com/ExtremeTeamKXLY/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hawkast1/support
Episode 1 - Mark Peterson and the Stain of White Nationalism
For almost 40 years, Mark Peterson has worked as a photographer, but never have his shots seemed more vital and timely. He has captured some of the most pointed and provocative photos of American political life, pulling back the curtain and revealing a world of theatrics and spectacle. But arguably, his most important work has focused on some of his country's ugliest moments. The surge of white nationalism under Donald Trump has left the award-winning photographer trying to capture a country he has trouble understanding.
