Rola Tibshirani – Episode 29

Planning Period Podcast

Hello, and welcome to Episode 29 of the Planning Period Podcast, your #EdBreakroom. I’m your host, Brad Shreffler. This week on the show I am joined by Rola Tibshirani. Rola is a Grade 6 French Immersion teacher out of Ottawa, Canada. She is a regular on the #ONEdMentors show on VoicEd Radio, and I was also on a panel show with her on Inquiry Based Learning for Sarah Anne Lalonde’s show, Que Sera Sarah?. And, she is also my Thankee for the first ever #VoicEdGratitude week that we have been running all this week on twitter. Rola is a passionate educator who believes strongly in putting ownership of learning in the students’ control. She does this through Design Thinking and Inquiry Based Learning, and she really knows her stuff. When I heard her on the IBL panel, I knew I needed to have her on my show, and thankfully, she agreed. Rola and I talk a lot about the need for teacher to let go of control in their classroom, and ways in which we can make that easier on them. We also talk about being a lifelong learner, trusting your students, staying curious, Design Thinking, and Inquiry Based Learning. So, sit back and enjoy Episode 29 of the Planning Period Podcast, my interview with Rola Tibshirani. Thank you again Rola for sharing that all with us. You are so awesome, I love all your work, and thank you for always sharing with us. If you want to connect with Rola she’s on twitter @RolaT. You can also checkout her blog Learning In Progress. If you have comments or questions about the show, you can always connect with me on twitter, @BradShreffler. I love to hear from you. That’s also a great place to connect if you’d like to be a guest on the show. Until next week, remember it should be exciting when it doesn’t work. Resources: Que Sera Sarah?
