Closing With A Song “Do The Evolution” by Pearl Jam with Jonathan Graves

The Brandon Peters Show

I had always planned to get to Pearl Jam as they are one of my favorite bands. But, I’d imagined it would be something like “Jeremy”, “Alive” or “Love Boat Captain”. Seeing as things came together with Jonathan Graves being a big animation guy and Pearl Jam having one of the most glorious fully animated music videos…”Do the Evolution” it is! And marvelously, this was probably the BEST choice. Between the video and the song (Which comes from their 5th album, Yield), there was A LOT to talk about. We really dive into this one and admire everything about it. How things have changed, how the video was sadly prophetic, how dark it gets. It’s a lot. The video comes from one of the people from Batman: The Animated Series and Todd McFarlane, so there’s even more going for it. The Brandon Peters Show will return Monday (5/2) to being The Summer of ’82 at 40 series with Scott Mendelson (Forbes) TECHNICAL INFORMATION VocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LCJonathan – Unknown Microphone (Recorded with Skype) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 24 minutes

What’s Up, Doc? (1972) at 50 with Jonathan Graves

The Brandon Peters Show

Another seminal film in the history of the medium turned 50 years old this year as well and isn’t really getting the recognition some others are. Peter Bogdanovich’s What’s Up, Doc? starring Babra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal was the 3rd highest grossing film of 1972. It trailed only The Godfather and The Poseidon Adventure in ticket sales. The film is a screwball comedy throwback that also pulls some inspiration from Looney Tunes. And the perfect guest for all that is the host of the premiere Looney Tunes podcast, This Means Podcast – Jonathan Graves. Jonathan is also the spouse of show regular Sabina Graves. We have quite the conversation regarding this wonderful piece of art as we relish in its production, snappy script and performances and just marvel at how untiring it gets. What’s Up, Doc? truly is a film that needs to be rediscovered as its as hilarious as it is clever as it is just damn fine filmmaking. -Brandon The Brandon Peters Show will return Wednesday (4/20) with Old Space Show TECHNICAL INFORMATION VocalsBrandon – Shure SM58-LCJonathan – Unknown Microphone (Recorded with Zoom) Post ProductionNCH Wavepad Masters Edition v8.38NCH MixPad Masters v5.22The Levelator 2 RUNTIME: 120 minutes What’s Up, Doc? is available on DVD and Blu-ray. TMT 087: Corbu (Jonathan Graves)

Talk Music Talk with boice

Frontman Jonathan Graves' Corbu are on the heels of releasing one of the best albums you'll hear in 2016. Crayon Soul is melodic when you want it, a bit psychedelic when you need it with expansive lyrics and soaring vocals from Jonathan. Fellow members Amanda (creative partner) and Todd Hoellerman (drums) complete the triumvirate.  Preceded by last year's two EP's, Corbu's debut was mixed by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Tame Impala). Although Crayon Soul isn't released until August, this episode features the latest single, "Battles", which is just one of twelve perfect songs.    Visit Corbu online: http://corbucorbu.com https://www.instagram.com/corbucorbu This episode is brought to you by audible.com.
