029. What It's Like Living In Rural Guatemala with Greg Walton
Welcome back to the Brightest Voices campfire, my friend. Today we’ve got quite a story from Greg Walton. A man who is no stranger to trusting God. Greg lives on the side of a mountain in Guatemala. He and his wife Helene are gifted in calling out Jesus in people and helping them learn the faith and discipline it takes to develop their gifts and use them for God. Greg’s story is all about remembering that it’s not about you, and learning how to make space for God to speak and move, and joining Him in what He’s already doing. This episode will give you a little glimpse into what it’s like to truly live off the grid in a country that is not your own. Greg even shares his top three tips for success on the mission field. If you love the idea of going to the ends of the earth and living in a small tribe somewhere in a jungle… you are going to loooove this episode. Greg has got some stories and some wisdom to share. Let’s hear it. 97: Educating Our Industry at Durham: Erin Popov, Jill Adams, & Greg Walton
Voices from The Bench
There are not many accredited schools left. They lack funds and enrollment. One school seems to be doing pretty good and they are positive about the future. While at the Eastern Conference of Dental Laboratories in Concord, NC, Elvis got to talk to three people associated with the program to get some different perspectives. First up is Erin Popov CDT who got into the industry via the school, graduated, and then came back to be an instructor. During the conversation, current student Jill Adams sits down to talk about why she signed up for the program and what she hopes to do with the knowledge after graduation. Then Elvis is joined by the 2020 NADL Educator of the Year award winner Greg Walton CDT who heads up the whole dental technology program at Durham Technical Community College. Greg went through the program, opened his own lab, and came back to help make the program what it is today. LMT Lab Day Chicago 2020 is only a few weeks away and Elvis and Barb have partnered with Argen to reach as many people at the show as possible. Few things create more interest today than the Digital Denture. Whip Mix has developed a processing system for printed dentures, which uses Dentca, the first 3D-printed denture and denture teeth resins to receive FDA clearance. Their physical properties and biocompatibility pass FDA requirements and enable the printed denture properties to be very similar to conventional dentures. The material, coupled with fast and easy 3D-printing with Asiga printers and the convenience of curing with a Uvitron UV light, results in fewer dentist visits, predictable fit, re-printable data files, lower costs and excellent intraoral denture performance. To learn how to create your own Digital Denture, check the Whip Mix website for their Digital Denture courses and for more information about the system.Special Guest: Erin Popov RG, CDT, TE.
