The rise of Ryan Gauld Ryan Gauld is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Portuguese club Farense. He began his professional career at Dundee United, where he helped them reach the 2014 Scottish Cup Final, and his abilities on the ball earned comparisons to Lionel Messi from the Scottish media. Sporting Clube Farense, simply known as Farense, is a Portuguese professional football club based in Faro in the district of the same name. Founded in 1910, the club will play the 2020–21 season in the Primeira Liga after promotion from the LigaPro.
