100. Upload on Amazon Prime Video Starring Robbie Amell is the Future!
FanDummies - Superheroes and Science Fiction TV and Movies
Today we are going to talk about Season 1 of Upload. We are going to talk about what it's about, the characters, the social implications, Greg will make lewd comments about the sex suit, and we will reduce Nathan's life down to a very handy pro/con list. Upload is a TV show on Amazon Prime Video. It is created by Greg Daniels, he is an executive producer along with Howard Klein. Daniels has also created The Office (US Version), Space Force, Parks, and Rec. It is supposed to be a comedy, but it isn't really funny. It is more heartfelt and romantic. It made it as a topic on FanDummies because it is Sci-Fi.For our patrons, we look at the tech in the show and talk about people building this stuff in real life? How close are we to being able to upload? Interview: Robbie Amell talks about life and afterlife in 'Upload'
AwardsWatch Oscar and Emmy Podcasts
What if you had the chance of opting into a second life after death? In the Amazon original series Upload, Robbie Amell plays computer programmer Nathan Brown, a handsome but self-centered computer programmer who dies under suspicious circumstances and finds himself in Lake View, a utopian virtual after-life. As Nathan acclimates himself to his new existence, he befriends Nora Antony (Andy Allo), his virtual handler. Nathan and Nora grow closer as they work to solve the mystery surrounding Nathan’s untimely demise. Upload is a sweet and whimsical comedy, with profound observations about technology, love, class and the meaning of life. Amell, who’s made the sci-fi genre his playground with roles on Netflix's Code 8 and the CW series' The Tomorrow People and The Flash was immediately drawn to creator Greg Daniel’s futuristic vision in Upload. Amell shares "When Greg and I talked about the script and the show he said if this digital after-life was created by people then it would have the same problems the real world has with division of wealth and income inequality.” Amell also shares his audition process in landing the role of Nathan, why fans are rooting for Nora and Nathan to be together and why the idea of a virtual afterlife appeals to him.

You know my guest today from playing Stephen Jameson on “The Tomorrow People” and Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm on “The Flash” or on “The X-Files” as FBI Agent Miller. Today Robbie Amell is here to talk about his latest film, the sci fi thriller “Code 8.”CODE 8 INFO: Code 8, written by Chris Pare, is set in a world where 4% of the population is born with some type of supernatural ability, but instead of being superheroes, they are heavily policed and live in poverty. Robbie plays Connor, a powerful young “electric” struggling to pay for his ailing mother’s medical treatment. To earn money, he joins a lucrative criminal world led by Garrett, played by Stephen, who teaches him how to use his powers to pull off a series of increasingly dangerous crimes.
