Announcement: This year I will once again be hosting an Arts Madness tournament inviting people to vote on a series of head to head matchups narrowing the field from 64 down to 1. The tournament will start March 1, but you can go to www.WhoArtEdPodcast.com right now to look at the brackets, see the artists/works and make your prediction about who will win. For this episode I sat down with my good friend David Pittman to talk about the amazing work of Duff Goldman, the Ace of Cakes. Duff Goldman is a culinary artist well known for his incredible artistry with cakes. He is part baker, part sculptor, part painter but definitely one amazing artist. His actual name is Jeffery Goldman, but his brother mispronounced it as Duffy and the name stuck. Throughout his life, Duff moved around to different parts of the country: Michigan, Missouri, Massachusetts, California, Maryland but no matter where he was his love for cooking and his incredible work ethic remained constant. Because Duff is a celebrity baker it seemed only fitting that the episode focus on discussion of a piece from one of his shows, so we discussed the Bollywood inspired elephant cake from the competition between Duff and Buddy, another celebrity baker. As always you can find more at www.whoartedpodcast.com
Dennis Miller+1: Duff Goldman's new cookbook is not just for kids
Duff Goldman from Food Network has written a new kids cookbook for kids who want to make challenging recipes. Plus, Goldman from Charm City Cakes is getting a new show. He teams up with puppets to go on adventures and cook in an imaginative kitchen. Goldman tells Dennis about growing up and how he first got into baking and cooking.
Growing up my guest was a graffiti artist, from there he played bass guitar in a band and as a side job he started making cakes in his apartment. In 2002 he opened his on business "Charm City Cakes" in Baltimore, Maryland, and yeas later he also opened "Charm City Cakes West" in Los Angeles, California. His work has been featured on "Food Network Challenge", "Iron Chef America", "Man vs Food", "Duff Till Dawn", "Cake Master Series", and many more. Author of three cookbooks, including "Super Baking For Kids" that is coming out on September 29th.
