Bruce Goodwin

The Bible is an amazing, life-changing and, at times, confusing book. It's not only WHAT we read but HOW we read it. If we're not careful, we can, with pure and sincere motives, elevate our interpretation of the Bible over the Bible itself. This ultimately puts our faith in having an answer for every question rather than in God. Maybe not always having all the answers put us in a better position to completely trust in the grace of God. 

The Bible can be studied, analyzed, handled, praised, appreciated, respected and even applied...but if we don't see beyond the printed page to the author Himself, then we have missed the point. To understand Scripture is to see and experience the God of the universe. 

In this world you will have trouble. It doesn't sound like we should expect a pain or problem free life, yet Christians are regularly confused by struggle and difficulty. How do we live in hope despite trouble? 

What Christians have come to know as the Triumphal Entry does look all that triumphant. A donkey and some palm leaves may not have looked like much to outsiders but to people who read the Hebrew Bible this was huge. Jesus was inviting everyone to see him as king and to live under his rule.  Disciples believe Jesus is the King and has ultimate authority to direct every part of their lives. 

2/17/19 God desires for us to bring what we are feeling, thinking, believing to him.
