Andrew Doyle: "My First Little Book Of Intersectional Activism", a parody of today's woke kids books

Andrew Doyle, creator of "Titania McGrath" (a parody of a militant social justice warrior) and co-creator of "Jonathan Pie", returns to the "So What You're Saying Is..." (#SWYSI) sofa to discuss "Titania's" hilarious new book: "My First Little Book of Intersectional Activism"

Doyle wrote the book as a parody of the many heavily-politicised woke childrens' books that are currently being published in an attempt to indoctrinate our children. To quote:

"Aimed at activists from the age of six months to six years, Titania's book will help cultivate a new progressive generation. In a series of groundbreaking and poignant chapters, she will take you on a journey with some of the most inspiring individuals in history, such as Emmeline Pankhurst, Meghan Markle, Nelson Mandela, Hillary Clinton and Joseph Stalin."

Whilst his book is humorous, Doyle wrote it to help expose a serious issue that extends far beyond childrens' books: namely, the flagrant indoctrination of children in the education system, where children are taught pseudo-history and controversial theories about gender, white privilege etc. Some are even told to ignore their parents' views where those views contradict classroom teaching. Such biased teaching, Doyle argues, is very likely illegal according to the 1996 Education Act. Yet our politicians remain silent on this issue.

"My First Little Book of Intersectional Activism" is available from Amazon and all good bookshops:

Resisting wokeness: Andrew Doyle and Douglas Murray in conversation

Recording of a discussion at the Battle of Ideas festival 2019 (

As the old saying goes, ‘the road to hell is paved with good intentions’. While social-justice activists are generally decent people, many commentators argue they exhibit all the tendencies of a cult: unshakeable certainty, a desire to convert the fallen while rejecting the idea of redemption, and capable of horrendous acts even though they see themselves as ‘the good guys’. The authors of two recent books on the ‘woke’ phenomenon, Douglas Murray and Andrew Doyle, consider their different approaches to critiquing woke activism. Given that the social justice movement is seemingly impervious to reason, will either of these strategies have any impact?

Satire in the Digital Age | Andrew Doyle

In October of 2019, a small group of genuinely liberal-minded people gathered together for a day of speeches, panels, and community in the Gladstone Library in the National Liberal Club of London. The conference had a title that succinctly described its purpose: Speaking Truth to Social Justice. Over the course of the day, even as the Extinction Rebellion protest raged outside just a block away, we gave seven talks and held two panel discussions, all with the intention of recovering and restating genuine liberalism in this unique era of history, where it faces unique threats.

Last to speak in the evening was our good friend Andrew Doyle, a comedian and satirist most famous for his excellent work with the satirical faux-Woke Twitter account Titania McGrath. In his brilliant and hilarious talk, Doyle provides a worthy and robust defense of both free speech and free thought. He does so by explaining the long history of satire and satirical hoaxes and their applications against unjust power. These, he reminds us, are necessary anywhere power over-asserts itself, especially in censorship, not just to deflate scolds we tend to associate with the right but also those who have arisen recently on the left, before ending with a twist: revealing that he, too, (maybe…, and that’s beside his point) has contributed to this sometimes-necessary tradition.

He is the author of the new book "Woke: A Guide to Social Justice". Andrew shares some of his craziest tweets that started as jokes, but eventually became reality. Andrew also describes how woke politics in the UK is beginning to legitimize thoughtcrime. He tells stories that sound like something out of George Orwell’s 1984. Andrew also describes how woke politics has infected the Labour party and why so many British supported Brexit. He also explains why he doesn’t have much faith in comedy or the arts fighting back against cancel culture.
