SidekickTV | Carl Davidson |Research First (Ep. #4)
Everybody's talking about critical thinking but no one's doing it! In this episode of SidekickTV, we talk to the incredibly talented and intelligent Carl Davidson from Research First. You'll learn that although we're not built to be critical thinkers, becoming a critical thinker is like unleashing a super power! If you want to watch this episode with video, it's available over on our YouTube channel. Also, feel free to join our Sidekick Business Lounge and check out our website.
Welcome to this latest episode of the podcast which is also #2 in my new series of PFPTV - Purpose Fuelled Performance TV - as this episode was originally live-streamed on LinkedIn. In this episode, I'm talking to Carl Davidson on the topic of bullshit jobs, lack of meaning in life and how to go about finding it from a psychological perspective. Carl has worked in the insights industry for the last 30 years. Since 2006 he's been with Research First Ltd, who - as the Twitter summary puts it - is a company of 'market researchers, behaviour scientists, strategic thinkers, and good buggers'. He's also written a bunch of books about doing research in New Zealand and he likes to keep his hand in teaching about research wherever he can. Recently he's been spending lots of time talking and writing about critical thinking and the link between smarter thinking and workplace productivity. _______________________________ Ready for some purpose fuelled performance? Showing Up! Episode 2: Carl Davidson, CEO Research First
This week on Showing Up! Michael and Kaushik talk to Carl Davidson from Research First. Carls talks about imposter phenomena. No doubt, most of us have felt like imposters at some point in our career. I went through it earl on when I decided to create videos for Linedin, then again whenever I'd be asked to speak to an audience about what we do. It is something that still occurs and something both Michael and I face from time to time. Carl shares some invaluable tips on how to recognise and overcome imposter phenomena in your careers. Check it out.
Carl Davidson grew up in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, a steel town outside of Pittsburgh. In college he joined the student movement, organized against the Vietnam War, a traveling campus organizer, was national secretary of SDS for two years and continues as an organizer to this day.
