REPLAY - Leveraging Speaking to Scale Your Business with Jessica Rasdall

The Joy to Lead Podcast

As business owners, CEOs and the visionaries of our companies, it’s important for us to identify our own growth roles as we make hires and build our teams. Often, for many of us this means we’re able to step into a more lucrative and visible role as the face of our company. In doing so, speaking is one of the number one ways to accelerate our company’s growth, widen the net we cast for our visibility, and radiate the impact our business has on the world.Jessica shares her deep and powerful message of how she overcome intense and turbulent personal challenges and she answers all the questions I could ever ask about how to discover our own message and share it with the world.Full shownotes are at www.joytolead.com/jessica-rasdallPOWERFUL QUOTES FROM JESSICA RASDALL“When we start to shift our focus on the difference we’re making and less on how it’s being received, it becomes so much easier.”“The only story that matters is the one your audience needs to hear. If we don’t start with the question of ‘what do they need from me,’ you’re going to tell the wrong story.”“Most of the frustration from speaking is not because your presentation isn’t great. It’s because you’re not leveraging it the way your business needs you to leverage it.”“You feel like you’re talking to everybody, but from the stage you only need to talk to one person. When you can focus on the one person you’re meant to impact, it’s so much more impactful.”“If you’ve ever sat in the audience and thought, ‘I’m meant to be up there,’ you probably should!”Connect with Jessica RasdallListen to the Speak to Scale PodcastMeet Jessica on her websiteLearn about Jessica’s Speaking Strategy AcademyDownload your free Speak to Scale Roadmap: Your blueprint for scaling your business from the stageHelpful Links and ResourcesFor more information on the Leadership Academy, visit www.joytolead.com/academy!

The Strategy Hour Podcast: Online Business | Blogging | Productivity - with Think Creative Collective

Today on the show we have Jessica Rasdall, a motivational speaker, bestselling author, public speaking strategist, and host to the Speak to Scale Podcast to talk to us about crafting your story for the virtual stage. Now that we are homebound and communicating with our audiences online, we can do with some help when it comes to showing up as ourselves and helping people rather than just have a self-serving online presence. You’ve heard the vulnerability piece – that you need to be relatable and reveal your “humanness” to your followers, but what is the right amount of sharing?  Jessica walks us through a formula for breaking your story down into three acts so that it is most helpful to people, a structure that outlines the before, middle, and after phases of your story. Each of these three phases is important: from hooking the audience and relating to their experiences to showing them how the significant event changed your life and the difficult decisions you have had to make. For Jessica, the most important aspect is the motivation behind sharing your story, and if its primary purpose is not to help your audience in some way, you might want to reconsider. Be sure to tune in to hear the rest! motivation behind sharing your story, and if its primary purpose is not to help your audience in some way, you might want to reconsider. 24: Episode 24: Sharing Your Story in a Book: Jessica Rasdall

Write Publish Market

Today on the show Jodi interviews Jessica Rasdall, author of Shattered (2019). Here are some highlights from their conversation: Jodi and Jessica discussed the origin of her book. Jessica shared that the idea had been brewing for 11 years before she finally wrote and published Shattered. Jessica couldn’t find the book she was looking for on the bookstore shelf, and her mother encouraged her to write it. As a tip for other author-entrepreneurs, Jessica suggested taking off the pressure by remembering that this is not the only thing you’ll ever put out there. She also recommended getting someone to help navigate the publishing world. Jessica noted that one of the difficult parts to navigate while writing the book was knowing what to share and what not to share. Knowing that the book would be a legacy piece of content put extra pressure to make it good. Once she received permission to not include everything, it was easier to commit to keep going. One of the fun things that’s happened since publishing the book is that Jessica has been able to change the way she navigates speaker negotiations. She’s been able to add profit without increasing her time worked. Jessica noted that she’s typically reading more than one book, and she’s currently reading The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks and re-reading Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.
