Happy Friday, Tribe! I have such a treat for you guys. Recently, I’ve been talking a lot about how to sell yourself and embrace it. A lot of good people face resistance when it comes to sales. They don’t want to come off as sleazy, egotistical, or “salesy.” But you don’t have to feel that way, because you know that’s not who you are. You’re someone who wants to have an IMPACT on the world and make INCOME in the process, and there is absolutely nothing sleazy about that! My guest today is a dear friend of mine, Jillian Murphy, and I call her the “Sales Queen.” She’s been in corporate sales for 22 years and she has the tools and wisdom you need to start selling yourself well while not feeling bad about it. Let’s get started, Tribe!

Who Is Jillian Murphy?

After nearly 2 decades of experience in sales from an entry-level position to her current position as a director of sales at Health & Wellness Lipari Foods, Jillian has learned that if you have the proper mindset, literally anything is obtainable.

She's a 3-time cancer survivor who's mindset was locked in at the age of 6 — she doesn't quit, even when extreme adversity comes her way.

As a Sales Coach and Mindset Mentor, Jillian is passionate to see women reach the goals that they set in place and align them with their zone of genius to make the greatest impact on those around them. She started the movement "Real Real Sales" which lets women take real ownership of their sales and confidence to own their income. She firmly believes that your passion, purpose, and energy will guide your personal success!

What You Will Learn:

  • Why Jillian ended up choosing sales as her career path (even though it’s a very
    male-dominated)
  • Why sales is fundamentally an exchange of energy
  • The importance of your IMPACT being the driving force behind your sales
  • How to STOP feeling icky, slimy, or sleazy about selling yourself
  • Why starting a business is about solving a problem
  • Why having a supportive business community (like a Mastermind) propels you
    towards more impact and income
  • Different ways you can invest $ in your business to make more $$$
  • Why to only do sales with people you enjoy as people
  • How to stop yourself from “selling” after you’ve already made the deal

119 | What Does Social Privilege Have To Do With Health | Dr. Jillian Murphy

Play
Read more

Now more than ever we're completely obsessed with our bodies, and the food that we’re eating. The truth is that a majority of people would say they don’t like the way they look. I know I’ve said that about myself many times throughout my life. But what might surprise you to learn is that there’s a highly idealized view of health and body type and that it’s an expensive classist system that only the privileged have access to. During this episode, I’m chatting with Dr. Jillian Murphy about what social privilege has to do with our health, and how we can start to make peace with our bodies.

Jillian Murphy helps adults and children make peace with food and
movement even during stressful and challenging times. The challenges
we have faced during this global pandemic have brought to light so
many issues around food and body image for many. I shared with Jillian
that when the pandemic was first starting to affect our lives here in
Texas, I hit a panic wondering if my children were going to finish the
food they were serving themselves. Trying to manage our access to
food coming in and out created a great deal of stress. Jillian shares
some of the experiences she has noticed with her clients and my guess
is that you will be able to relate to much of what she shares.

“There’s unlimited opportunities to do food again and make different choices.”

“Food is bio-psycho-social. It is so much more than just fuel. And so sometimes we make decisions that are ultimately for the best of our physical selves. And sometimes we make choices for our mental-emotional selves.”

“When shame starts to get involved [in eating], things get worse.”

“The intuitive eating camp are trying to de-stigmatize eating choices that have been highly stigmatized for a very long time.”

“It’s really normal to have to have wild swings in calories from human to human and even from day to day in the same human. We don’t have the same energy requirements every day. We actually have incredibly varied caloric needs.”
