Vault of Souls with Scott Swenson Interview – Theme Park University Radio

Theme Park University Radio

Rarely have I been so excited about a new attraction opening in Central Florida. Opening in October 2015, the Vault of Souls will be combining a unsettling haunt experience with immersive theater in Tampa, Florida. What is being called “an elegant evening of fear”, this event takes place in the real Exchange National Bank which opened in Tampa in 1923. While the bank hasn’t been used as such in years, the real history behind the building serves as the backdrop for this boutique immersive theater event. The line begins to blur as guests learn about both real and fiction residents of Tampa who used the bank to store their worldly goods. Many of their possessions were kept in the vault of the bank, underground from the public and possess a certain aura or spiritual energy which is being manifested for the first time in October 2015. Inspired by immersive theater productions like Sleep No More in New York, the Vault of Souls will be a first-of-its-kind haunt experience where guests can freely roam the space in whatever manner they choose. Unlike traditional haunts, participants will spend hours exploring the environment and the scares will be more psychological than startling. In our latest episode of Theme Park University Radio, I got a chance to chat with Scott Swenson, the Creative Director behind Vault of Souls to find out how this idea came about and just how different of an experience this truly is than any other type of haunt experience ever attempted. Check out the link below this article or listen via iTunes! For more information on this experience visit: www.TheVaultofSouls.com!
