Kingdom hit Netflix recently and has found a new life as viewers are getting their first look at the previous DirectTV exclusive series. The show follows a dysfunctional family as they run an MMA gym and follow their dreams of making their mark in the world of fighters. The show sports some of the best acting and writing we at the Nerdosphere have seen in the past few years. The Nerdosphere had the privilege of speaking with the series' creator, Byron Balasco. He doesn't miss a beat as he jumps on the podcast and a great conversation follows. Byron gives us insight in the show, taking an idea and making it a reality, writing a series, and behind the scenes business aspects of making a series.
I loved this episode. If you haven't seen Kingdom, which is now on Netflix, you need to take the day off of work, brew a pot of coffee, and start binging it. Today, we are joined by the creator of the show, Byron Balasco. Byron was a really great guest. We discussed the creation of the show, his writing career, the show's casting, and maybe most importantly, the possibility of the show's future. Kingdom has everything you want from a show, drama, amazing acting, and flawed characters you love to root for and hate at the same time. Make sure to check it out on Netflix today! We also talk about Scott's subpar vacation, wives invading bathroom time, Scott rescuing a kidnapped comic, and end with some bear news. A typical, atypical episode of Verbal Shenanigans.
Byron Balasco Creator and Producer of Kingdom (Now streaming on Netflix) takes us on a journey where he discusses the road traveled that led to this point. With life's twists and turns many things are had to predict but I believe that this is just the beginning for Mr.Balasco. To give you a somc understanding of what Kingdom is Kingdom is family drama set in the MMA world by way of Venice, California. Alvey Kulina (Frank Grillo) owns Navy St. MMA with the help of his girlfriend Lisa Prince (Kiele Sanchez). He is willing to go through extraordinary means to make sure his fighters are taken care of, but all of this responsibility comes at a steep price. He has complicated relationships with both of his sons, Jay (Jonathan Tucker) and Nate (Nick Jonas), who are both struggling with their own identities and places within Alvey's life and gym. The show Kingdom is getting rave reviews across the web right now and Guardian of the Galaxy director James Gunn called Kingdom one of the "10 most underrated, binge worthy shows of the 2000's.
