This week's contestant is comedian and Instagram fashion ICON (according to Brent anyway) Ashley Bez! We talk about nasty food, signature sex moves, the dangers of inhaling peanut butter, and much more!
Comedian and writer Ashley Bez began writing jokes on Twitter and had to learn how to be funny on stage. She talks to Will about growing up with 3 sisters, growing as a performer after gaining a solid presence on twitter, how getting off birth control lead to her starting comedy, writing for TV Land's Younger, and what she's learned about writing a TV pilot. Mara had 7 comedians (including Andrew) on top of her roof for a secret comedy show called, "F*ck, Marry, Kill" co-hosted with past HNA guest and comedian Kristin Manna (#72), and Ashley Bez. Ashley joins Mara and Andrew to answer the question, "What's the Worst Thing You Have Ever Done to An Ex?" Later in the episode, we're joined by Julia Solomon (#84), Autumn, Leah Bonnema, and Casey James Salengo (#18). It got pretty crowded on Mara's bed. Before it helped elect a president who teetered on the bring of nuclear war with every subsequent tweet, Twitter was an important testing ground for young comedians, honing their one-liners 140 characters at a time. Ashley Bez will be the first to admit that she owes much of her career to the social medium platform.Through Twitter, she’s found steady work and writing gigs for online magazines and TV shows, along with her most recent gig, an online radio dating advice show through Anchor.fm. And really, it’s a pretty good microcosm of a career that she’s put together piece meal through a variety of different online mediums, from a daily clothing blog to a surprise viral video hit that found her microwaving string cheese through a faux-drunk emotional roller coaster. In our first face to face meeting after several years of following one another on social media, Bez comes in from the pouring rain to discuss comedy, New York City, day jobs and the power of Twitter.
