Ep. 317: Julia Fox, Kylie & Travis, Miley, Chris Evans, & More
Comments by Celebs
Emma and Julie begin with Julia Fox’s reveal on WWHL: the 2020 Drake dating rumors just may be true. They then get into a tangent on the terminology around dating (hooking up, ‘talking,’ etc) and how it differs between generations. Then, Kylie & Travis on-again/off-again, and how this feels like something that doesn’t necessitate a headline announcement. Then, the lyrics to Miley’s new song, ‘Flowers,’ and the potential Liam of it all. (Also mentioned: the infamous 2019 Brody Jenner/Brandon Lee/Miley Instagram comment tiff.) We then get ourselves into a little Chris Evans tangent, and then on to Kim & North’s TikToks. They end with the heartbreaking news that Tristan’s mom, Andrea, has passed away suddenly in Toronto. Their thoughts are with him and his whole family. Back in December 2020 Chris Evans sat down with HFPA journalist Henry Arnaud to discuss his limited series "Defending Jacob." In 2022 he's already provided the voice for Buzz Lightyear in the Pixar film Lightyear, starred opposite Ryan Goslin in the Netflix action thriller The Gray Man, and will go on to star in Ghosted opposite Ana De Armas and Pain Hustlers with Emily Blunt. Our conversation with him goes back to the early days of his career, his move to L.A. and the struggles of making it as an actor, how his big break as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four made him hesitant to take up the shield as Steve Rogers in Captain America, and more.

Episode 66: Permaculture and Development. Chris Evans and Morag Gamble
Sense-making in a Changing World
In this episode of Sense-Making in a Changing World I'm talking with Chris Evans. Chris been living and working entirely in the permaculture development world for over three decades. His work in Nepal is inspirational and has influenced many programs globally. He fell in love with Nepal way back in 1985 when he was living there as a volunteer for community forestry programs. But he realised soon that that international development models weren't actually working. That's when he discovered permaculture and enrolled himself in a permaculture design course with Bill Mollison. Since completing the course, he's helped to adapt permaculture to the Himalayan context and brought learning opportunities to thousands of small farms, creating demonstration centres, local curriculum and resources, school programs , leading permaculture courses, training the trainer courses, and also helping with the establishment of barefoot trainers who go as needed to the villages to help build resilience in farming communities. I met Chris 25 years ago at a Permaculture Conference and recently visited him and his partner, Looby McNamara in England. Looby has also been a guest of this show and their daughters have also joined in as guests on a Permayouth festival. They live at Applewood Permaculture Centre on the Welsh border. I'm so grateful for the chance to dive more deeply into the work that Chris does in permaculture development in this podcast. There are so many valuable lessons in this conversation. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did.I'd like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I'm meeting with you today and pay respects to their elders past present and emerging. Selena Gomez and Chris Evans, Maneskin, and the DuoLingo Owl vs. Mr. Peanut
Don’t Let This Flop
TikTok is a platform populated primarily by teenagers, a demographic that can smell inauthenticity a mile away. So as it becomes more mainstream, how can brands gain traction on it? This week on Don't Let This Flop, cohosts Brittany Spanos and Ej Dickson spoke to the TikTok voice behind the DuoLingo owl itself, Zaria Parvez, the social media coordinator for DuoLingo, asking such burning questions as how brands can thrive on TikTok, whether she's ever gotten in trouble for making the owl too horny, and if the DuoLingo owl has ever taken a human life (she claims it has not.) Other subjects discussed this week are the Italian band Mäneskin, which went viral after winning the Eurovision competition earlier this year; conspiracy theories about Selena Gomez and Chris Evans boinking based on his Instagram stories; hot movers, and Mr. Peanut's butt.Don’t Let This Flop is a weekly podcast from Rolling Stone, centered around a roundup of this week in TikTok trends and memes, from dances to recipes to makeup challenges to creepy viral videos to celebrity videos to grassroots campaigns intended to raise awareness of social issues. Join hosts Brittany Spanos and EJ Dickson as they unpack their significance, with a special guests to break down the latest trends in TikTok. Some of these stories will be silly; some will be more serious. All will have wider implications outside the world of TikTok. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
