24 The Amazing Power of Telling Your Story (inspired by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford)
Siena and Toast: The Podcast
This episode was inspired by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who – as she told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sep. 27, 2018 – felt it was her civic duty to inform them about her being sexually assaulted, in an effort to “to provide the facts…so that you can take that into serious consideration” in determining whether Brett Kavanaugh should sit on the Supreme Court. Her courage, and the stunning impact it had, prompted our reflection on the energy that each of us channels when we tell our stories. In this episode, Siena explains how sharing the story of her own sexual abuse affected both her and the classmate she told, in a powerful and positive way. "I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t remember as much as I would like to," Ford told the Senate panel, her voice shaking. "But the details about that night that bring me here today are ones I will never forget." Christine Margaret Blasey Ford is an American professor of psychology at Palo Alto University and a research psychologist at the Stanford University School of Medicine. She specializes in designing statistical models for research projects. During her academic career, Ford has worked as a professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine Collaborative Clinical Psychology Program. In September 2018, Ford publicly alleged that U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in Bethesda, Maryland, when they were teenagers in summer 1982. She testified about her allegations during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing regarding Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination later that month. How Far Should Grassley Go To Interview Christine Blasey Ford
"Tapp" into the Truth
Today I’ll circle back and talk about a few stories I didn’t get to before. “Progressives” love the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader who preaches about reincarnation in pursuit of Nirvana. But they're not going to like what he has to say about Europe's migrant crisis. VA officials have discussed allowing sex reassignment surgeries to be covered in the last few years, but have not made any updates, prompting some advocates to sue the department. John Tamny, author of The End Of Work: Why Your Passion Can Become Your Job and the editor of Real Clear Markets and the Director of the Center for Economic Freedom at FreedomWorks, will join me to discuss the Jim Carrey comments about socialism and if millennials are really buying into the idea. I’ll also talk about the on-going saga of Christine Blasey Ford & Brett Kavanaugh. Don't forget about the Edwards Notebook and the Veteran's Tip of the Day! All of this and more as time allows. Listen live, join the chatroom, be a part of the show.
