And they can handle the “suck." Yes, starting and running a business is difficult but veterans have experience in doing hard things. My guest today is Dean Bundschu. Dean is the National Ecosystem Development Director for Bunker Labs. Bunker Labs is a national non-profit network of veteran and military spouse entrepreneurs dedicated to helping the military-connected community start their own business. He has been in the entrepreneur space since serving as an Army Company Commander in Iraq in 2003 and 2004. Dean has seen hundreds of veterans and military spouses start and run successful businesses. We talk about what it takes to start a business and why so many veterans are moving in this direction. Additionally, he is an entrepreneur, accomplished sales professional, and business advisor to numerous high growth startups. Prior to venturing into the business world, Dean served 8 years as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army; his service included a combat tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon returning from the war Dean had the honor to work at Orion International where helped hundreds of veterans transition from military to corporate America. As the Founder and CEO of PrepChamps, Inc., Dean successfully raised $2.2M in private equity capital, PrepChamps was recognized as the 2007 North Carolina Fast Trac Tech Company of the Year and ultimately the became the 2nd largest site in the high school sports recruiting space before being acquired. Dean received his bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University. Dean Bundschu is the Atlantic Regional Executive for Bunker Labs, a company that inspires, equips, and connects veteran entrepreneurs with other entrepreneurs and mentors. Dean is an army veteran who has helped several high-growth business startups. Jessica Harris is the is the Founder of K9 Salute, a company that creates all-natural dog treats in honor of fallen service dogs. A retired army veteran, Jessica has developed her entrepreneurial skills and matured a business that gives back to working dogs across the country. She has been featured in the Pet Food Industry magazine, and during 2018 she was named an American Small Business Champion by Sam’s Club and SCORE.
