Entrepreneur and best-selling author Frank Fiume and I talk about his motivational quest for purpose, which didn’t hit him until after he’d already begun his career in medical sales. Frank saw an opportunity to transform men’s softball on Long Island, NY from a rag-tag amalgamation of disorganized leagues and created the largest sports organization on Long Island by simply giving players what they wanted: excellent service and product. Frank then spun that into i9 Sports, which is the largest private youth sports organization in the country with 170 franchises in 30 states with 2 million players participating. As Frank says, progress isn’t a straight line, it’s a zig-zag, just as it is if you’re trying to lose weight, achieve sobriety, or keep your New Year’s resolutions. Frank hit one of his hardest ones when he got introduced to diet pills as an easy means to counter his workaholic lifestyle. Frank became a devotee of motivational superstar Tony Robbins, who helped him see that his life needed a new purpose. So Frank sold i9 Sports in 2017, and wrote a book called “Running with my Head Down: An Entrepreneur’s Story of Passion, Perseverance, and Purpose.” Frank shares how you can succeed if you have a vision and make it your mission to achieve it. Hopefully you'll enjoy his inspirational story. Please contact Bill for more info about the We Are Superman Leadville Ten Warriors. In this episode Ira interviews Frank Fiume. Frank is an author and the Founder of the purpose driven business i9 Sports, a youth sports league that has helped over 2 million kids in 900 communities across the country succeed in life through sports. Frank talks candidly about his journey of walking away from a highly lucrative career in medical sales, distancing himself from the life his father wanted him to have, moving away from the city that he was born in and comfortable in, to discovering his purpose and unlocking a dream that was bigger than himself to serve and to impact the lives of families nationwide. Frank talks about how diving head first into his dreams and cutting the safety nets and getting rid of the “Plan B’s” ultimately led to a massively impactful business that was rooted in his purpose and which has made over 300 million dollars, led to a successful business exit, and the launch of his new book “Running with my Head Down”.
