Ep. 180- Up and Down, Like a JWP Free Kick with Chris Hutchings and Jay Grant

Southampton Dellivery

Show Timeline: Intro Music- 0:00 Intro- 0:53 Chris Hutchings- 3:56 Behind the Closed Doors- 8:07 Arsenal- 14:53 Break- 36:08 Jay Grant- 37:27 End Credits- 1:10:54 The football season is most definitely back. The rollercoaster ride that is following Saints is here, and we experienced it all this week. Our emotions followed the team up and down as Saints lost to Arsenal in disappointing fashion, keeping the home form intact, and then went on the road to HAND Watford a defeat and take all three points back to St. Mary’s. Saints now sit on 40 points. Closer to 7th than 17th (though other teams have games to come later this week), and we can be relatively confident in how the team responded to the performance against Arsenal. This week I am joined by two guests, Chris Hutchings spoke with me on Friday morning to relive Arsenal and talk about the experience of being in the ground when then doors are closed and seeing Premier League football without a crowd. We also discuss the match, which wasn’t that great. Luckily, Chris is. You can follow him on Twitter @HutchFM. I then caught up with Jay Grant who runs the partner page of the show, the Southampton Page, on Twitter and Instagram. We had the pleasure of reliving the win at Watford, the performance of some of the rotated players, and we also discussed what we expect to see against City. We recorded on the final whistle and were, understandably, excited. At least we finished on a high! Ep. 157- Nein, Nein, Nein, with Jay Grant of Southampton Page

Southampton Dellivery

Saints put in a wonderful performance at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. They won the match. Whatever Leicester were, they were second best. Ralph and company deserve all the credit for how things have gone since the last international break. It’s been a lot of fun to watch the last several weeks… and that hasn’t always been the case, at least for as long as I’ve been doing the podcast. I’m a little long-winded this week to open the show, and I’m sorry. This episode, episode 157, marks the start of the 4th year of the show, something I am both extremely proud of and truly thankful for. Thank you to the guests, and the listeners and the Patrons and everyone else who has made this show possible over the last few years. That includes the newest Patron of the show, Chris Thomas. I’m a bad person and didn’t read it in the show this week. That’s not great from me, honestly. Next week you’ll hear his name. Anyway, this week I’m joined by Jay Grant, the man behind @southamptonpage on Twitter and Instagram and the official partner page of the show. We chat about the result, answer some questions and more. Thanks as always for the support, and here’s to another year! Ep. 136- Lucky Little Liverpool, with Jay Grant of the Southampton Page

Southampton Dellivery

Saints fell to Liverpool at St. Mary’s over the weekend, a result that will come as a shock to absolutely no one in the football world. It leaves Saints with no points and only one goal scored through two Premier League matches, with two more fixtures coming before the first international break of the season. Saints, however, did play well for large parts of the match, dictating the game for long periods, and looking on par with Liverpool (even if they weren’t at their best). The game featured a lot of missed chances by both sides and Saints eventually walked away with positives to build on but no share of the points. Joining me this week to discuss the match and some new developments in coverage is Jay from the  Southampton Page. The Southampton Page is the official partner of the show and just launched its YouTube Channel earlier this week. The first Matchday Experience will be up late on Saturday night after the Brighton match, but you can subscribe right now to make sure you don’t miss it (plus there’s an intro video there for you already).  As always, thanks to Jay for all the support and for joining the show once again! And, thank you for listening! Ep. 122- Huddersfield. Humbled. Hasenhuttl. With Jay Grant of the Southampton Page

Southampton Dellivery

The 2018/2019 Premier League season is over. A 16th place finish, some wins against the top 6, 29 points dropped from winning positions (if my counting is correct), a new coach, a load of players out on loan, 2 executive openings, and a second place trophy for LFC. Was it successful? I’m not sure I’d call it that, but it’s definitely on something to build on. This week I’m joined Jay Grant (@fataljaay), who owns the partner account to the show, @southamptonpage. Because he was at the match on Sunday, and Sunday was also Mother’s Day here in the US, we recorded on Monday morning, shortly after the club announced the new main sponsorship deal with LD Sports (so that’s fun). We also discuss Saints’ 1-1 draw with Huddersfield on the final day of the season, the looming transfer window and more.
