Angelina Spicer: That One (PostPartum Depression) Friend

That One (Blank) Friend

What is postpartum depression really like? What does it feel to be a mother that's really in the trenches with depression? An honest, hilarious and insightful conversation with comedian and 'accidental activist', Angelina Spicer.Strap in kids, this is a good one.Her movement and also the title of her documentary, "The Push For Permission" is not only a love letters to all mamas, but a call to action to raise awareness to PPD and hopefully shed the stigma it brings.----------------------ABOUT ANGELINA:Comedian, Creator and “Me-Time” enthusiast Angelina Spicer has built an impressive online presence with her viral comedy sketches. It began as she portrayed Tyra Banks, Beyonce and Nicki Minaj on the Disney web-series Electric Spoofaloo. Her viral success catapulted her career from phone screens to the silver screen, when she appeared in several episodes of hit talk show THE REAL, as well as playing a crazy mix of characters on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, and CONAN. Many of her sidesplitting skits have been featured on Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Funny Or Die, WorldStar Hip Hop, Essence magazine, and have been tweeted by countless celebrities including Shonda Rhimes, Taraji P. Henson and Taylor Swift.Angelina became an outspoken advocate for maternal mental health, when she was released from a psychiatric hospital for treatment of Postpartum Depression. It was then that her journey to remove the stigma from the shame from PPD began. The documentary film she is developing 'The Push for Permission' will address her twelve month struggle with postpartum depression. Much like her live standup comedy shows, the film is slated to hilariously depict Spicer’s awkward transition into motherhood, her ridiculous race to return to work, complete denial of her postpartum struggles, her acceptance, recovery and triumphs over the illness.-------------------GUEST LINKS:INSTAGRAM: @angelinaspicerTWITTER: @angelinaspicerTIK TOK: @funnyangelinaspicerDONATE TO DOCUMENTARY: Push for Permission DocFOLLOW ‘Push for Permission’ Movement & Doc: The Push for Permission on IG--------------------Please Subscribe to That One (Blank) Friend on Apple Podcasts & Spotify and follow us on on Social MediaHOST: @saudiarashedSHOW: @thatoneblankfriendWEBSITE: SaudiaRashed.comTickets for my solo show are here for 'Release and Let Go: A Journey of Solo Artists' show streaming live November 7th at the Whitefire Theatre.

Comedian and actor Angelina Spicer thinks a frank discussion of postpartum depression doesn't get included in there nearly as much as it should.
