Episode Highlights Exemplars of Wisdom in Tal’s Life When Tal hears the word “wise,” she thinks of her grandfather and her mother. She describes her grandfather as “brilliant with the mind, growing at the heart.” Tal admires her mom, who is a doctor, for her strength. At 70, her mom still practices her profession. Paying Attention to Your Energy Tal had worked in the entertainment industry for a long time. The biggest lesson she learned from her career is paying attention to her energy. We can manage our energy despite the adrenaline pump we experience from the demands of our jobs. Longevity in your job does not necessarily mean growth. It is crucial to feel, direct, and manage our energy better. Success Is Simplicity Success, for Tal, is wanting less. With simplicity, she can use her energy to grow. Other people may perceive Tal’s vision of success as failure or setback. However, for her, it means ample opportunities. Empowerment: Past & Present For Tal, the concept of women empowerment before and now is very similar. The difference lies in how we express it. Empowerment means you do you. It is about having the choices and owning who you are without having to compromise. In her 20s, Tal felt like she needed to prove a point in the decisions she made. Before, empowerment is about trying to make a point. Now, empowerment comes from within. The Biggest Lesson from Tal’s Daughter As a mother, Tal is learning every day. There are days where some things are foreign to her. She always asks the question, “What could I have done differently?” She wants to give her daughter more space to grow. At the same time, she wants to provide her with the skill sets she needs to feel more empowered. Being a mother forces her to learn patience in a more encompassing way. Wisdom Comes from All Ages We are all on different paths and journeys at different times. Many young people have more wisdom about certain situations. Wisdom is not about age. What matters is who you are and where you are on your path. Tal’s Greatest Life Shift Tal’s greatest life shift happened in her first marriage. When the relationship was just starting, there was a voice in her head stopping her from saying yes. However, she was terrified to communicate. By not communicating, she ended up making decisions that hurt her ex-husband. Tal learned to listen to what her body is telling her. She learned to talk about things, even if it meant hurting someone in the process. She also learned that making mistakes only reflects the totality of man. Your mistakes do not define you. On Resisting Change Everything is energy. Energy moves, and nothing is static. Resisting change makes things more difficult because you are fighting against the flow. At some point, the current is going to take you. When you go with the flow, you do not have to worry about getting plummeted down the waterfall. What WISE Means to Tal Wisdom means knowing yourself. Inspiration is that little seed of energy that you cannot deny. Success is happiness unattached to anything specific. Empowerment is owning yourself and not apologizing for it. Tal’s Advice to Her Daughter Don’t say you can’t. You can do anything. You are strong and powerful. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode “Start paying attention to your energy.” “I kind of wish I could have learned to manage my energy better. And again, that’s not so much like taking care of yourself and self-care. It’s like feeling it and directing it.” “You got to do what works for you and what makes you happy.” “I might make choices that people wouldn’t agree with—and I’ve done that my whole career, all careers. But I check in and I’m like, if it feels good to me, I’m going to do it, and if it’s not the right choice, I know I can defend it because it’s mine.” “Some things are life experience, but there’s a wisdom that can be innate, that it doesn’t matter how old you are.” About Tal Tal Rabinowitz is the founder and CEO of The DEN Meditation, a drop-in studio for guided meditation. She also worked as an entertainment industry executive for almost 20 years. The lessons that Tal learned from her experiences in life paved the way for her successful entrepreneurial endeavor. Episode 184| Creating A Sanctuary with Tal Rabinowitz

Radically Loved with Rosie Acosta

Tal Rabinowitz is the Founder of The DEN Meditation, a peaceful meditation studio nestled in the busy city of Los Angeles. Tal left behind her life as an entertainment industry executive to share the gift of meditation with everyone. At her core is a focus on the importance of maintaining perspective, finding clarity, and staying true to one’s heart when it comes to handling a chaotic life. In this episode, Tal and I talk about the path to creating an inclusive meditation space, dealing with triggers and staying ahead of reactivity, checking in with your gut instincts, and making changes to create a spiral of positivity. Radically Instinctive Tal Seeing self-care as moments of connectedness to the Universe Releasing the guilt of ‘should’ to embrace what’s deserved Creating meditation accountability and self-awareness in a chaotic life Radically Inspired Clarity Treat your life like it’s a company. Schedule everything out including meditation to keep the machine working. Meditation isn’t a miracle cure. It’s to get to know yourself and do the work. People are afraid to change because they don’t know what life would look like. In reality, it can all change tomorrow anyway. So why not take a risk? Tal Rabinowitz Answers… What creates reactivity in your life? Why is meditation space important? What pivotal moment shaped your life? Radically Loved Quotes “What meditation pushed further was the ability to honor myself and not worry about what anyone else thinks about that.” “The more all of us meditate, the better it is for us as a whole.” “A real friend should want to hear you out and understand you.” “Life is like Frogger, it’s not always straightforward.” A Little More About Our Guest A casual course in meditation at her past employer, would make such an impact on her both personally and professionally that she went on implement a 20-minutes-a-day group meditation practice with some of her team. The overwhelmingly positive effects that developed for everyone cemented meditation as a central part of Tal’s life, and from there the idea of the idea of The DEN came to life: A comfortable, no-pressure environment with easy, accessible instruction to help both new and veteran meditators alike enjoy a beneficial, consistent meditation practice. Tal Rabinowitz

Groomed LA

Listening to Tal Rabinowitz’s map her journey to opening Den Meditation is a an exercise in tuning into intuition, listening to the call of true self, abolishing fear and simply just going for it. If you ever struggled between playing it safe and sticking with a good thing or taking a risk to follow your heart -then this podcast is for you. Tal is empowering and inspiring in every sense of the word. She left her life as a top tier Hollywood executive as VP of Comedy Development at NBC (think The Mindy Show, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (obsessed) and more) and did a full tilt pivot to opening the first of it’s kind - a home for meditation/mindfullness and more - in the heart of Hollywood (and also Studio City). As someone who used to perpetually question myself and my true career desires, my jaw was on the floor listening to Tal define what success means to her, moving through doubt into the unknown to fully embrace the path less travelled. Success comes from deep need and this town was desperate for a hub like Den to ground, center and congregate. Listen to the Den mama herself and head to DEN MEDITATION to see what Den has to offer (classes, workshops, retreats, community), if you don’t know it. You can find me there weekly at any and all sound baths! And even more exciting for you podcast lovers, Tal recently launched DEN TALKS! If anyone is going to call in incredible guests, it’s Tal and so far I am riveted. Too many goodies to list but we go over them in this podcast. So.
