Symphony for the Soul: A Conversation with David Helpling about his New Double Album "IN" (Pt 2) | Revealing the Mysteries with Isaac George
In the autumn of 1999 I wandered into a New Age store located in Portland, Oregon. As I browsed the books, my ear caught the opening strains of some otherworldly guitar and synth music. I asked the clerk what he was playing, and it turned out to be a new release entitled “Sleeping on The Edge of the World”, by a composer named David Helpling. As an electric guitarist myself, I could resonate deeply with David’s visionary style, melodic structures, and innovative use of effects processing to create deep, ambient, and dreamlike soundscapes. In last year’s two-part interview with David about the album “Rune”, he recounted some of the personal and professional challenges that he faced with trying to complete this project. In this year’s interviews we will preview some of the tracks from his upcoming epic double album "IN", discuss some of the production values, learn about the guest artists who contributed, and how the album finally came to be completed. David also shares how it feels to finally birth “IN” after a gestation period of almost nine years. This album will captivate you like a lover. “IN” will be available worldwide on April 15th, 2022.Pre-Order “IN” Double CD, LP, Hi Def MP3, WAV or Studio Version Downloads:https://spottedpeccary.com/shop/in/https://davidhelpling.bandcamp.com/album/inSingles from “IN”:Waves Dream of Breaking Official Video: https://youtu.be/_leVaKuokF0This Burning Sky Official Video: https://youtu.be/cihGoA648qEAbout David Helpling:Main Site: www.davidhelpling.comSpotted Peccary Artist Page: https://spottedpeccary.com/artists/david-helpling/David’s Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/dhelplingPresented by Isaac George: https://IsaacGeorge.comAll Contact Info and Social Media: https://www.isaacgeorge.com/stay-in-touch-with-isaac.htmlTune into the show live on KindaSound Radio every Sunday: https://KindaSound.orgConnect with the KindaSound team on Telegram: https://t.me/ksradioNew podcast episodes every Thursday

The vast world of New Age and ambient instrumental music has emerged in recent decades to an enthusiastic audience that embraces spiritual and alternative perspectives, and the music of David Helpling stands out uniquely in this genre. Even though it is created in an electronic medium, David's music retains all the beauty of human dreams, emotions and the vibe of the natural world. Echoes Podcast: David Helpling's Oceanic Ambience: An Interview In the Echoes Podcast, guitarist David Helpling takes us into the runic and oceanic influences of his January CD of the Month, Rune. Helpling is a southern California musician who has been a favorite on the show for about 25 years. He’s recorded all his albums on the Spotted Peccary label, noted for their deep ambient music. His three recordings with Jon Jenkins were all CD of the Month picks. But for his latest solo album, he’s gone truly solo, creating an album with a guitar, a bass and a lot of processing. Rune was the Echoes CD of the Month in January. It’s a concept album, a tone poem based around the Nordic Rune for ocean. He talks about ambient guitar, the ocean and ancient runes.
