Carla Esparza (aka Cookie Monster) is one of the strongest most badass MMA fighters in the strawweight division of the UFC. She is on a 4 fight win streak with her most recent win on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. She holds the record for the most takedowns in women’s UFC history. Carla holds a lot of 1st’s: She was the first UFC Strawweight Champion, the first Invicta Strawweight Champion AND she was the very 1st guest on this podcast. You might even know her from the reality TV series, The Ultimate Fighter, where her high-level MMA skills were showcased when she won the 16-woman tournament and gained her contract into the UFC. Carla is considered one of the best strawweight fighters in the world and she is proving to only be getting better.
