Theodore Dalrymple (Anthony Daniels) - Evil in a Decadent Society
Subversive w/Alex Kaschuta
In this special Subversive episode, I'm joined by one of the most influential and observant social critics of our age, a man who has seen it all and lived to tell the tale. We speak about crime, anarcho-tyranny, the allure of violence, the concept of evil, religion, liberalism, decadence, mental illness, identity, stigma, and much, much more. This was one of my favorite conversations on this podcast, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Anthony's recommended subversive is Simon Leys, an essayist, and sinologist, one of the first intellectuals to denounce the Cultural Revolution in China and the idolizing of Mao in the West. Anthony Daniels, who is more well known by his pseudonym, Theodore Dalrymple, is a retired prison physician and psychiatrist and the author of many, many wonderful books, among them “Life at the Bottom” and “Our culture, what’s left of it."--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/aksubversive/message
Ep. 25 - Theodore Dalrymple on H. G. Wells's 'The Time Machine'
The Ralston College Podcast
Ralston College presents a lecture delivered on March 17th, 2022 by Theodore Dalrymple (aka Anthony Daniels) on H. G. Wells’s extraordinary 'scientific romance,' 'The Time Machine'. A brilliant seer and prophet with a very pessimistic view of humanity, Wells was, nevertheless, a naive and shallow political thinker. The two sides of his mind—the artistic and the ideological; the 'unofficial' and the 'official'—were in conflict. In his writings and personal life, Wells embodied the cultural and philosophical schisms underlying the most important political and sociological questions of our time. Wells's prescient insights, and troubling self-contradictions point to deep questions at the heart of human nature.

Life at the Bottom: The Worldview That Makes the Underclass (Theodore Dalrymple)
The Worthy House (Charles Haywood)
A classic work on the underclass, which I use to define my program for distinguishing between the deserving and the undeserving poor, and treating each with justice. Plus, a variety of thoughts on modern Great Britain, none complimentary. (This article was first published September 29, 2018.) I was quite excited about the @Jordan B Peterson conversation with Theodore Dalrymple. The conversation was so good I didn't feel the need to do a commentary on it except for the portion at the end that I thought was important. https://youtu.be/_ET7banSeN0 My talk with Chris Arnade https://youtu.be/oXO5SYHrfuE Chris Arnade Dignity https://amzn.to/3hJSTeF Discord link. During my tenure at WTI, I made the kind of comedy that gets you put on lists and your words in the Wall Street Journal: “How I Became a ‘Far-Right Radical.” No longer with WTI, I am now fully independent and free to take on subjects I’ve always wanted to. In addition to producing sketch comedy, stand-up, and opinion writing, I also host The Lou Perez Podcast with new episodes every week. How’d I start out? I began doing improv and sketch comedy while an undergrad at New York University, where I was part of the comedy group the Wicked Wicked Hammerkatz. For years, I performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (both in NYC and L.A.) in sketch shows with the Hammerkatz and my comedy duo, Greg and Lou. G&L are probably best known for our sketch "Wolverine's Claws Suck," which has over 20 million views on various platforms. I was a writer for Fox Sports' @TheBuzzer; produced The Attendants with the Above Average Network; produced pilots for FOX Digital and MSN Games; and was a comedy producer on TruTV's Impractical Jokers. I hosted the stand-up show Uncle Lou's Safe Place for two years in Los Angeles, performed at the Big Pine Comedy Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and co-created the political comedy podcast Unsafe Space. I taught creative writing at the City College of New York, "writing the web series" for Writing Pad, and comedy writing workshops for the Moving Picture Institute.
