Ep 36: Teaching your staff how to audit w/Dr. Amanda White
The Audit Podcast
Professor of Audit and Assurance at the University of Technology Sydney and one of the top audit YouTuber's in the world, Dr. Amanda White joins the show to talk about how we can learn to audit better and how we can teach others as well. If you've ever had to train a new hire or someone new to the profession then this episode has what you're looking for. Amanda also recommends starting them off on The Audit Study Guide she put together and to join Auditopia to become part of their on-line community for internal audit to continue learning. Amanda also turned the tables on me and asked what I'd recommend for those interested in analytics so I pointed her to the Complete Machine Learning and Data Science Bootcamp (for those interested in security consider going through the materials for the CompTIA Security+ certification). Also, be sure to follow Amanda on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and of course, her YouTube channel. Be sure check out my favorite part of the interview on The Audit Podcast YouTube channel. If you enjoy the podcast, would you please consider leaving a rating on Apple Podcasts/iTunes? It really makes a difference in helping to convince hard-to-get guests. It only took 16 seconds to give myself a five-star rating (beat that!).

Amanda White on Truth in the Tinsel: A Simple Way to Celebrate the Christmas Season
Build Your Best Family
There are so many different ways we can observe the Christmas season. This week’s guest Amanda White created Truth in the Tinsel. It’s an ebook that she calls an Advent experience for little hands. It's more than a devotional, it's more than a craft book. It’s a memory builder for your family. Microsoft Teams helps Dr Amanda White to teach what she loves...auditing.
Amanda White is a senior lecturer in accounting at the University of Technology in Sydney, with a research focus on the teaching and learning aspects of accounting education. She speaks widely at conferences on accounting education, loves technology, and runs her own YouTube channel called Amanda Loves to Audit. Amanda is presenting at the 2020 Microsoft Eduday on the topic of “Do we need a traditional LMS?”
This episode is the first of a new season, and my good friend—and friend of the show—Amanda White is here to talk with me about how sometimes, our first (pop culture) loves become our forever loves. We cover my long history of loving mysteries and her insistence on bonnets and survival stories. And hang in to the very end, because we also share some listeners’ first and forever pop culture loves. You won’t want to miss that! More fun includes Amanda sharing her mental image of Patreon supporters with us, urging you all to become “rich old ladies” who support this podcast, and even though she later suggests I’m still using a VCR (which I am not), I bring her to actual tears of joy by agreeing to watch one of her very favorite TV shows of all time and record my reactions with her for a bonus episode for patrons. Or rich old ladies. We also discuss what Patreon supporters should be called, because “rich old ladies” and even “patrons” don’t seem nearly as fun as tater tots and French fries. If all that crazy sounds like your idea of a good time, then you are in for a treat. Welcome back to The Couch!
