Liberty Blues Ep.24 Randy Young & Jaime Ortiz Tippecanoe style!
The Liberty Blues Network
I'm Randy Young from Battle Ground, and I was born and raised for the formative years of my life in Lafayette. I graduated from Rossville High School, and moved back to Lafayette at the age of 30. Tippecanoe County has so many great things to offer us and I want to ensure that continues into the future.I am running for Tippecanoe County Council District 2 because, having dealt with intrusive county zoning regulations and taxes as the owner of a small business, I have an understanding of what the proper role of local county government should be. The trend of government to grow ever larger and more controlling continues unabated, as the last 2 years have proven to be true.My aim is to hold local county government accountable to the people who pay for the services provided by Tippecanoe County and to rein in unnecessary spending at the county level.Hi, I’m Jaime Ortiz. I’m a Lafayette local and while I wasn’t born here I have been here for over 20 years and call this area my home. I attended school at Wea Ridge elementary and middle school and graduated from McCutcheon in 2013, I probably know a lot of you or your kids. After graduating I joined the Marine Corps because I wanted to serve my country and currently work at Subaru.I’m running for the seat that represents Tippecanoe County Council District 3. I think I decided I wanted to run for office roughly a year and a half ago in the middle of the pandemic. I was disgusted at how all levels of government acted and treated my fellow citizens. It made me angry as hell to see businesses in my community closed and people's lives ruined everywhere. It made me angry to see representatives act like dictators and medical professionals. To be honest I was not well educated on what the proper role of government was but I knew this could not be it. When I first heard Donald Rainwater speak about government and its role, that resonated well with me, it made sense and it felt right. The more I looked around and learned the more corruption and government overreach I saw on all levels, especially in my local community. After much research, I decided to join the Libertarian Party and from there ended up where I am now choosing to run for District 3 County Council to try to put the government back in its place. My goal is to make sure the county is spending your money responsibly, spending for things that are in line with the Indiana Constitution, and make sure the government does as little to infringe and intrude on your rights and life as possible. I look forward to serving you in a manner that is as constitutional as possible and for your vote in November! Thank you!
