“Food for thought” join me for an in-depth conversation with Robyn Taaffe, nutritionist, spirituality and health advocate, on the complex relationship we have with food. We discuss our tendency to comfort eat, our relationship with food and the emerging relationship we nurture with our children and their diet. We discuss how powerful our bodies are and how sometimes we need to adjust the jeans to fit the body and not the body to fit the jeans.
In the very first Soul Secrets episode, Robyn discusses what Spirituality is and how it essentially changed her life from her own health, to career and all areas in between. Working as a Nurse and practitioner, Robyn notices the importance of a connection with something bigger than ourselves, and the power of looking inside on our health and well-being. Spirituality is something that affects every single one of us and encourages us to search for more meaning in our lives. Robyn discusses how you can begin your own Spiritual journey and how it can help you move past fear and find purpose in your life.
Episode 29: Diet Culture and Self-Compassion with Robyn Taaffe
The Irish Balance Podcast
This week on the podcast I am delighted to have registered nurse and evidence-based nutritionist Robyn Taaffe, founder of The Lifestyle Clinic in Dublin, as my guest. Robyn runs the Instagram page @thelifestyle_clinic as well as her busy nurse-led lifestyle medicine clinic in Dublin. She advocates a non-diet approach to food and nutrition in her clinic, as well as placing equal importance on movement and self-care. In this episode we discuss what diet culture is and how we can spot it, relationships with food, weight stigma, and the importance of self-compassion. I absolutely loved recording this episode and I hope you all enjoy it too. Disclaimer: In this episode, Robyn and I discuss various issues around diets, food relationships and food restriction. If you listen to this episode and identify with any symptoms of concern discussed, it's important to consider seeking in-person consultation and advice from a healthcare professional such as your general practitioner or a registered nutrition professional.
