Alyce Tran talks about her journey from lawyer to start-up founder of The Daily Edited
Give It A Nudge
Alyce Tran joined the Give It A Nudge show to talk to Steve Grace about her journey from lawyer to start-up founder of The Daily Edited, as well as her recent transition out of the business and what's coming next.
My guest today went from a career as a stressed-out corporate lawyer to a hugely successful self-made entrepreneur in a matter of years. Alyce Tran co-founded The Daily Edited (TDE) in 2011 as a fashion and lifestyle blog that quickly evolved into a personalised accessories line. Now The Daily Edited is the go-to destination for luxe lifestyle accessories that are affordable, specialising in monogram-able leather goods. TDE employs more than 150 staff and is available online and in stores across Australia, Singapore and the USA. 2020 was the first time the business didn’t experience growth, so Alyce pivoted the product range to focus on gifts for friends and family sent directly to their door. I ask Alyce how she’s grown the The Daily Edited so rapidly, the importance of social media to her brand and how Covid affected her product range. Join the Facebook Group. 5. Alyce Tran, Co-Founder and Creative Director at The Daily Edited // How a former lawyer turned a side-hustle into a multi-million dollar fashion label
The Make It Happen Show
Alyce Tran is one-half of the hugely successful fashion accessories label, The Daily Edited. What started as a side-hustle and fashion blog is now a multi-million dollar accessories company. Alyce, who started out as a corporate lawyer, has had huge success since she started The Daily Edited: her products are available online and through stores in Australia, Singapore and the U.S., and the business has an annual turnover of over $30 million. Alyce offers some fantastic words of wisdom, including for entrepreneurs who want to make a bricks-and-mortar retail business successful.
Four years ago, Alyce Tran was working as a corporate lawyer in Sydney. She didn't love her job, and spent much of her time using the office printer to make mood boards that inspired her. Her co-workers often commented on her style, and because of this she decided to start a blog called The Daily Edited - a daily edit of the things she loved. Fast forward to today, and The Daily Edited has transitioned from a blog to a globally recognised fashion brand, with annual revenue of over $30 million. On this episode of lady-land, hear how Alyce built her thriving business selling stylish, monogrammed accessories to customers all over the world.
