318: The FRD Colorado Adventure with Chris Emick, Ali Jafarian & Jon Vroman

Front Row Dads | Family Men with Businesses

After hearing about Front Row Dads, several guys have shared with me that they’re just not having important conversations around family, parenting, marriage, sex, health, money, etc.   They all have buddies, but they’re basically shooting the shit around things that are topical and typical. It’s weather, sports and with some “How are the kids?” questions, and then the boring “Kids are great” responses.   After guys join FRD, I’ll often hear some version of, “I had a deeper conversation in the first few hours of being here than I’ve had with any of my friends over the past few years.”   What makes FRD work is a simple formula. It’s first relationships, then resources, then results.   We’re not interested in BS relationships, but want to form real connections rooted in trust and transparency.   While many men might have lots of “facebook friends” we believe in building a true brotherhood. And this is done with great intention.    After the REAL relationships are formed, the deep conversations naturally lead to resources and results.  Recently, a few FRD brothers organized a trip to the mountains, and the discussion today will give you an inside look into that adventure and why it was so powerful for the guys involved.    We’ll share how they sparked killer conversations, tackled some outdoor adventures and created a bond that will forever alter their lives (and the lives of their families).   When was the last time you got out of your comfort zone with other people, allowed yourself to be vulnerable, unplugged, recharged and connected with others in nature?  Joining me today are legendary FRD members Chris Emick, Michael Wagner, and Ali Jafarian. They recently got together with a group of 8 dads and went off the grid for a few days on a mountain adventure of exploration and discovery. You’ll hear the breakthrough conversations they had while melting snow to make coffee at 5am, the tales of pushing their limits, and those sweet spots in time when your body is in tune with nature.  I hope this show encourages you to have your own experiences with people you want to do life with.   I hope that by hearing this conversation today, you’ll find a way to have a miniature version of this retreat and connect with others in your neck of the woods. Podcast Highlights The simple One Word exercise that kicked things off  Witnessing the disempowerment of shame when guys share things that they normally wouldn’t. Forcing yourself into an environment that grounds you. How exposing your soul to new things reflects in your family life. How your need to impress others can weigh down on you. The fear that comes with insecurity.  How to pick the path that connects you to other people.  Overcoming your fears and testing your boundaries. Dealing with Imposter Syndrome and how you can overcome it.  Creativity vs. Fear and how to let yourself thrive as a father. The ways your family can feel the benefits of your health. Regain your perspective by disrupting your comfort. The benefits that come from unplugging and recharging. Get grounded and feel what’s true to you.  How to become more present and patient for your family. We are in the business of building better families. While most dads would say that family matters most, the challenge is they feel guilty knowing their careers get the best of them, and their family seems to get the rest of them. We help Dads become family men with businesses, not businessmen who have families, so they can thrive personally AND professionally. 034: Jon Vroman on What it Means to Be a Family Man First

The Lifestyle Investor - investing, passive income, wealth

When I started a family, I made a very intentional decision that I wasn’t going to trade time for money. I knew I wanted to show up at every game, recital, and important activity for my daughter, so I decided I was going to build a life that would give me and my family lifestyle freedom — and that’s exactly what I did! But, just because I created that freedom, it didn’t mean that I was automatically an amazing husband and father.  In fact, for someone who’s always been a high achieving, hard working, competitive natured person, working on my business oftentimes felt more natural than working on my family. As entrepreneurs and investors, we’re so used to planning, setting, and achieving big goals for our businesses. We track progress, hit targets, hold meetings, and more...  But why aren’t we taught to put that same level of energy into planning for our families — and shouldn't that be a top priority? With Father’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to talk more about the importance of relationships, family, and showing up for the people who matter the most. Afterall, what’s the point of creating freedom if you have nobody to spend that freedom with?  There’s no one more suited for this special episode than my longtime friend, Jon Vroman. Jon is a husband, father and the Founder of Front Row Dads — a brotherhood created for “family men with businesses, not businessmen with families.”  Jon originally started this group, not because he felt like he was crushing it as a Dad and a husband, but because he felt like he was getting crushed — and this group of likeminded men, rooted in trust and transparency, became the answer.   In today’s conversation, Jon and I talk about the revelation he had in his thirties that helped him realign his priorities and truly put family first. You’ll learn all about the powerful work Front Row Dads is doing, and how to build a business around your life–not a life that revolves around your business.  So, If you align with the idea of being a family man with a business, and not a businessman with a family, you definitely won’t want to miss this episode! 16 | Jon Vroman | How Life Looks In The Front Row

The Greatness Machine

Ever wondered what your life would look like if you could strike a perfect balance between work and family? Our guest for today, Jon is living the life of his dreams. He is focused on fatherhood and family, owns a thriving business, and has enough money to live comfortably. But this wasn’t always the case.  Back in 2005, Jon was trying to get his business up and running. He had run through all savings and was doing all he could to ensure his family’s survival. And ironically enough, his struggle had distanced him from his wife and kids.   This experience of his inspired him to start Front Row Dads whose main goal is to help fathers show up in the correct way for their families.  As men, we are preoccupied with earning money and ensuring that our family leads a comfortable existence. But, in the process, we take the easier way out and dump all family responsibilities on our wives.   On today’s show, Jon and Darius share their experiences – both as sons and later on, as fathers. Like Jon, Darius also made the mistake of focusing all his energies on his business when he was just starting out. Eventually, he realized the futility of his approach. And how his “success” in business felt hollow if he was not giving his 100% to his family.  Front Row Dads is helping men and dads deal with their deep-seated issues and their vulnerabilities. Listening to Jon will surely force you to pause, and indulge in some self-introspection.  What You Will Learn In This Show Living life in the front row The complexities and vulnerabilities of being a father and a business owner How to create a true legacy And so much more… Resources Front Row Foundation Front Row Dads Front Row Factor The Greatness Machine Podcast Facebook Instagram YouTube Twitter LinkedIn
