Founded in 2014, the company ran a highly-successful Kickstarter campaign raising $820,000 for its Valour smart bike, a smart bike featuring bluetooth to connect to a user’s smartphone for directions and LED indicators and raised $1.6 million from Real Ventures the following year. The Vanhawks Valour network had riders in as many as 42 countries, with nearly 1,000 bikes sold and was acquired by Warren Industries. Ali was a biomedical engineering student before he dropped out to join his co-founders at FounderFuel in Montreal. They launched their Kickstarter campaign 12 days before demo day, with the goal of raising $100,000. The target was quickly met (&lt;30 hours) and end up raising 8x the initial goal, becoming the largest Kickstarter in Canada.
