Is anyone actually surprised that Bryce Dallas Howard has turned into a helluva director? Last year she helmed an episode of "The Mandalorian" and now she's got her first feature length project, a documentary about and called "Dads" on Apple TV+. Bryce returns to "Happy Sad Confused" to talk about directing but also for a deep dive into one of her favorite comfort movies, "Jurassic Park"!
Actress and film producer Bryce Dallas Howard, daughter of Ron Howard, chats about her new documentary, DADS. The film follows "six extraordinary fathers from across the globe—and some of Hollywood's most famous dads speaking about the joys and challenges of parenting." We discuss the lack of a collective rite of passage like a baby shower for men, how her own relationship with her father and her new-dad brother impacted this film, as well as how healthy families negotiate the tension between the private and the public parts of their worlds.
Katie catches up with her longtime friend, Bryce Dallas Howard (actress, director, filmmaker). Just in time for Father’s Day, Katie and Bryce chat about all things dads. They also discuss postpartum depression and the challenges of letting go and allowing your partner to share an equal role in child raising.

You may know Bryce Dallas Howard from her many well-known acting credits, but aside from being a talented actress, Bryce is also an amazing friend. Bryce was a fan of Dr. Anna Akbari's writing and reached out. She then took one of Anna's online courses, after which they started working together and they quickly became close friends. Soon after, Anna was diagnosed with an incredibly rare form of cervical cancer, which kicked off a multi-year journey through different procedures and treatments. Bryce felt compelled to help in some way, and launched a GoFundMe campaign to offer support.
In this episode, actress and director Bryce Dallas Howard joins Katherine to discuss her love for animals – starting from childhood, the lessons her dogs have taught her and the heroic effort from one of her dogs that saved her little brother.
