CSNY's masterpiece album Deja Vu celebrated its 50th anniversary over the pandemic, so now they are just getting to release a reissue, and we got the chance to do a deep dive on it with a member themselves. Graham Nash joined us for a long, in-depth interview!
It has been a WHILE since the Dazzler, the great Englishman Bob joined Ryan in the inner sanctum, but he's back for his fifth and final appearance to get real sing-songy, but not real lyrical with Graham Nash & David Crosby. There's good news on the 'rona, bad news for the members of the band, and a great game of Page 43. Recorded May 18, 2020.
One of Atlantic Records’ most iconic artists, Graham Nash started his career by co-founding the English pop/rock group The Hollies. In the late 60's, he partnered with David Crosby and Stephen Stills to form Crosby, Stills & Nash, which later also included Neil Young. The recordings released by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young remain some of the best-loved of all time, including songs written solely by Graham: "Our House," "Teach Your Children," "Just A Song Before I Go," and "Wasted On The Way." Graham is also an internationally renowned photographer and digital imaging pioneer. He is a two-time inductee of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall Of Fame. This episode was recorded in front of a live audience at Atlantic Records in 2018.
Of The Hollies personnel it's Nash who normally gets the sharp end of our blunt comments about his career and face. But this month it's the football jersey wearing, Carling enthusiast Terry Sylvester who comes in for an absolute pasting over his questionable Twitter behaviour. Our second ever guest, Becky Walsh, joins us to reminisce about Lindsay Lohan's relationship advice, plug her own podcast 'Scandal In The Wind' and weighs in on the 'hadn't begun but is now never-ending debate', 'Brimful Of Asha' vs 'Same Jeans' (with an undercard featuring 'Want A New Drug' vs 'Ghostbuster's', no out of court settlements here) In three sentences we go from Kings Of Leon, to Scouting For Girls, to self fellatio. Make of that what you will.
FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music
Back in 2016 we sat down with Graham Nash, who 's been making a name for himself for several decadec, first with The Hollies, and later with CSNY and his solo work. The occasion was the release of his solo album This Path Tonight, but the conversation quickly veered off into other topics as well, like songwriting, his divorce and finding new love, the rise of Donald Trump, his relationship with David Crosby and why CSNY broke up, among other things. There are several moments where Nash is passionate and raw in his answers, showing he hasn't missed a step since when he first started. Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/FaceCulture)
