It was a hot and rainy afternoon of August 24th, 1919 as pitcher Ray Caldwell stepped to the mound at League Park. As the rain was falling, Caldwell needed just one more out to win the game for the Indians. The rain had been falling since the 4th inning and the clouds were getting darker when all at once lightning struck Caldwell.
