Nina Huang decided to work full-time as an artist after leaving a PhD program in Sociology at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was during that time that Nina adopted her first Greyhound, Apollo. She later wrote a Kickstarter-funded children's book entitled, My Apollo. She paints a variety of subjects including animals and nature, and also produces videos on the artistic process. Nina Huang is an artist and author based in Portland, Oregon. In today's episode, she shares her two Greyhound rescue stories - Apollo and Pebbles.  We have a wide-ranging conversation with Nina. Her dogs, spirituality, the creative process, and her latest book with the working title, The Enlightened Creator, a book inspired by the Tao Te Ching. Today’s storyteller has a story that’s just as inspiring as her dog’s is. Five years into her PHD program at Harvard, she made the courageous decision to leave school and pursue her dreams of becoming an artist.   It wasn’t easy, and it was during the beginning stages of this transition that she became depressed. She was still in school, miserable, and longing to pursue a different path. Her boyfriend at the time, wanted to cheer her up, and he knew, like most of us do, that there’s no better therapist than a dog.   I’m thrilled to introduce Nina Huang with the story of how she met Apollo… listen in to hear it!
