Our nation continues to be stirred by racial injustice and social unrest. At the Global Leadership Network, we recognize these are universal issues requiring leaders to step up and engage. Research shows increasing diversity on teams and in every sector of society improves productivity and moral, adding value within organizations. In this episode of the GLS Podcast, we asked Dr. David Anderson and Dr. David Livermore to have a Part 2 conversation on racial and cultural intelligence. They go into the tough topics—institutional racism, the efficacy of protest, the concept of reverse-racism and what you can do to lead with truth and grace in this cultural moment.

This episode is a re-release of a candid conversation between Dr. David Anderson and David Livermore, Ph.D. on racial and cultural intelligence. In this conversation, Anderson and Livermore model the challenges inherent in a multicultural dialogue, encouraging teams to ask uncomfortable questions, listen well and wrestle with the implications of difference.
For my seventy-eighth Dream Gardens children’s books podcast, I interviewed author John David Anderson about the middle grade fantasy novel The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander, which is the first book of his Chronicles of Prydain series. Taran, tired of being just the assistant pig-keeper, wants a life of adventure. So when he meets the Horned King one day in the woods, adventure is exactly what he finds, and much more than he bargained for. Full of Lloyd Alexander’s trademark humor, fast pacing, and an array of quirky and interesting characters, the first book is a great introduction to the classic fantasy series.
John David Anderson is author of the novels Granted, Ms. Bixby’s Last Day which was the subject of another Dream Gardens podcast, Posted, and Finding Orion. His most recent middle grade novel is One Last Shot. You can find John David Anderson’s website at www.johndavidanderson.org.

In this episode, environmental educator David Anderson describes his work with international environmental organization A Rocha, inspiring communities to practically engage and steward their neighbourhoods.
He describes risk as a human necessity for engagement with nature, sharing a personal story of loss, that provides a resonant example of what it means to lean into nature, life and love.
Storyteller, educator, historian, community organizer, and a follower of Marcus Garvey, David Anderson will be celebrating his 90th Birthday on Tuesday, April 28. Growing up in Cincinnati, David Anderson was influenced by his parents and Marcus Garvey. He moved to Rochester, New York in 1956 and struggled against the structural racism that segregated the black population into crowded, overpriced, and substandard housing. In the late 1960s, he launched a crusade against lead poisoning which was a scourge afflicted African American children living in substandard housing. Currently, David uses storytelling to evoke the past and to empower people who struggle against racism.
These days before Lent are typically known as Carnival, that season of masquerade, music, dancing, and reveling as people (presumably) bid Vale carne, "Goodbye, meat."
The Lenten fast has a long history in the Christian Church—not as long as the celebration of Pascha, that is, Easter—but long nonetheless.
Our word “lent” is derived from the Old English word lencten meaning springtime. Nonetheless it has become synonymous with what is still called in many places “The Great Fast.” The goal is to spend forty days preparing to celebrate Easter through prayer, penance, and fasting.
But how do you count those forty days especially when from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday is actually 46 days? And what is an appropriate Lenten fast? Vale Carne or "Vale wine and chocolate" or "Vale corn chips"?
Wyoming Catholic College’s Byzantine Catholic chaplain Fr. David Anderson spoke to interested students last week about Lent and is our guest on this episode of The After Dinner Scholar.
